Later Gen1 inner tie rods (like mine) are M16 threads, earlier were M14, so 2mm difference. They even have different part numbers. I don't know about Gen2, but I have seen and measured both Gen1 versions.

There's also some similar 3D print models out there, or maybe just cut some slots in a scrap of wood.
