I did a search but didn't come up with anything relevant. So sorry if this has been posted before.
I've had my R1S for over a year now (Gen 1) and have gone on some long trips but never used the Driver+ system. After being in my friends Teslas that always seem to have issues I was very hesitant...
Great to hear this worked. I noticed something similar after showing people how high the vehicle can go. I never drove around but I might try that next time.
Did you need to do this each time you drive or just once then it got much better?
Doesn't matter I've had updates pop up on the screen while at the beach and in the mountains.
I don't do updates while traveling just in case something happens and typically wait to get back home. Part of this is because I'm usually in poor connection areas and still worried about an issue that...
Apple music worked for the first couple days but now it never works and if I do get a song to play the next one fails to load. It is worthless in my book and as a non apple user testing the free trial I cancelled the renewal on that right away. I'll just stick to streaming via BT from YouTube...
Thanks for this writeup. I love my Gen1 R1S but my wife hates the ride.
I keep debating on testing out a Gen2 to see if it fixes the bounciness for my wife but I know if she does I'll be going dual instead of Tri which I would want.
Just wanted to say I growing up I had a boat with an OMC 5.0 engine and it was a beast!! But I think it was the last year for OMC so it was difficult to find people to work on it. My Dad sold it after 10+ years of owning it.
This is the biggest issue with non-Tesla EVs! I've had multiple trips were the EA chargers are derated so that 40 minute charge I was ready for is now 2 hours so I can continue my trip. I now try to plan for up to 3 contingency plans when traveling which isn't fun.
I agree can't wait for the...
This is what I want to know although I have an R1S with 21" wheels and the OEMs send a bit more feedback through the suspension and I wonder if the Michelin's will help fix that or if I should switch to 20" wheels to smooth out the drive a bit more.
For those who have an R1S and 21" tires and switched did it smooth out the ride at all? Mine is a bit bouncy and my wife hates it. I was debating on going with 20" tires since nothing else existed but now I'm looking at these to see if it will fix the drive just a bit for her.
Hmm this looks interesting but how would you charge the vehicle? I would think the mice would use the charging cable from the wall to cross over the barrier.
I expected the numbers this quarter to be worse than projected due to the shutdown and unloading of the Gen 1 vehicles and agree with everyone else that the next earnings call will really tell you the future and how they are going.
Saying that I do want to add that I really think the Gen 2...
I always respond with a question.
When was the last time you made a gallon of fuel you can use in your vehicle? Then mention that I've never created a gallon of gas or diesel fuel. But I can hook up a bunch of solar panels and charge the mine.
Then I bring up Florida during a hurricane they...
I'm mixed on starting the trial run of paying for connectivity without adding video streaming so people can test it out. But at least they added the ability to use the Wifi from your phone. I guess you can test out some of the new features that way when they are released.
Over the last 3 decades I've watched a lot of these alternative fuel sources pop up that are cleaner than gas/oil and they say will be cheaper once they scale up. All of them have failed because the cost always ends up being more as unless they can use the current oil infrastructure to transport...
I think there are a few factors. This being one of them as I was looking at the Model X but couldn't justify the price (at the time) and the fact it is in reality a car. The fact the R1S is more like a 4Runner style and truly offroad capable means even after the model X price drop the R1S still...
I was wondering about this as well it appears they had a massive push then it slowed down. I'm hoping it is just a slowdown so they can have people put on some miles before pushing out in large batches again.
I know right before the holiday means I need to get it before the upcoming road trip...
I'm speculating but part of this might have been due to the heat pump they added. This might be lowering the amount of power being used to cool/heat the cabin, batteries, and motors. Also any other cooling that might have been needed for electronics.
I'm very mixed on this as a Gen 1 owner that did not get a discounted price. I don't believe Rivian owes us anything especially those who had discounted prices on a vehicle that should have cost $100,000.
Saying that I do feel Rivian should offer an olive branch to those that took the chance...
For those saying this will be more expensive I highly doubt it as I think the quad motor was a large seller for gen 1 and from everything I heard those Bosch motors were much more expensive than the internal enduro motors. Combine that with now selling a internal build tri motor for the same...
I'm about to hit a year in my R1S and the only reason I would think about getting a 2025 is the Softer Suspension. My wife complains about the vehicle all the time because of how rough it rides. I have thought about loading it up with a few hundred pounds of weight as I find it helps.
Other...
