I asked my mobile tech about this today, and he know nothing about it. That didn't surprise me. What did, was him talking exclusively about 12v, even though he admitted the R1T has 2 motorcycle batteries. He wasn't aware of any easy place to connect up a winch to 12v or 400v (he hadn't heard...
I've got a 4'x5' piece of this sunroof PPF on the way, PPF Paint Protection Film Glass Sunroof Clear Bra VLT70% UV99% Block W – EzAuto Wrap . I"m hoping it'll cut down on IR, and protect the sunroof glass a bit. Will report back after it's installed, hopefully by the weekend.
Mine have been getting easier to close over the 4 weeks I've had the truck. The back doors are still more difficult than the front, but they are used the least.
A mobile tech was at my house today for some other issues, and I asked about the tonneau problems. He said I definitely don't want to join the "tonneau club" and suggested spraying the track with dry lube. That's what they do, but he didn't have any in the truck. I picked some up at Home...
Add me to the list. Worked last night after the update, and again this morning, but no joy this afternoon. Haven't tried a reboot of the entertainment system yet, but will next time I get in her.
I love the concept, but 18 panels, each 59' long? They look to be about 4' wide. That'd be a strip about 14' wide and as long as a football field! We definitely need more efficient panels.
I've owned a BMW i3 REX, which was my first EV and OPD experience, and I liked it. I've rented a Model 3 for a weekend and also test drove a Model X, they were good OPD experiences as well. I owned a Hyundai Tucson PHEV and it's regen was weak, compared to the others.
The R1T is the strongest...
What are you thinking in terms of sink vs. cooktop location? The biggest miss I see on the Rivian solution is where the sink is, the fact that it blocks the rear passenger door. May not be a real problem in use, but just a risk to paint damage, especially if you have kids. Flipping that...
I knew about that. I'm not an EDC kind of guy, but I guess a simple solution would be to stash a screwdriver (looks to be a Torx bit, need to check size) in the hitch receiver to be able to access the frunk release. Thanks.
Given the handful of people who have had this problem, I'm looking for a emergency solution. I have a jump start battery pack, but it'd be useless if it's locked somewhere inaccessible. Does anybody know of one that might be shaped such that it could be slid into the trailer hitch receiver...
I don't see 6 being a good position, though I didn't try it. I may try again later in the week. I'd consider a swing-away adapter, but don't want to add that much more weight. I may borrow my neighbor's older 1-up to see how it fares.
I ordered a 4" drop/riser extension from Amazon and it arrived today.
With it in the drop position, I can now open the tailgate fully as long as I don't have a bike in the inboard position. There are 2 holes on the extension and these pics are with the pin in the hole that minimizes extension...
I don't have the sense that they are making trucks to order. They seem to be making batches with various configs, then matching them with potential buyers. If no long-standing reservation holders in the right geographic locations are interested, they go down the list, thus newer reservations...
There are currently no aftermarket wheels in any size that fit, and Rivian is not selling them separately (except for the spare). I doubt they will anytime soon as they are using all they can to deliver trucks. I, and many others, didn't even get the spare we ordered with the truck, though...
I know we just had a storm, but I suspect that by the time we truly "need" snow tires again, there will be additional offerings on the market. For me, the 20" is the best option given how I'll use my truck. Even RJ said it was the most versatile choice.
I couldn't tell if it's a plastic insert vs. a coating, but I didn't try disassembling yet to figure that out.
Agreed. Not enough triangulation in that support to be of much benefit. With the width of the footprint of those two right angle brackets it seems pretty good.
Nice solution. Was going to weld something up, but this is easier. Good to know that the diagonal isn't absolutely necessary. The awning provides a lot of that stability. Spreading the load over the crossbars more (fore/aft) would likely help quite a bit. I can't tell if the track is just...
