@Rickmc The tray does NOT clear the rear wall where the elastic band is. It overhangs ≈1.5". But it's easy to see and grab documents stored on the rear wall. Here's a quick pic of my (pardon the mess) tray.
If you want a kit, DM me and I'll get one out to you Monday. $95 shipped.
Excellent. Glad it went together as intended. Thanks for posting. re print tolerances, I have a calibration routine to find deviation from ideal in all three axes. Then an M92 G code in the printer to tweak steps per millimeter. Results are typically within 0.06mm. Not as good as my cnc mill but...
That's great @DeanB1452. I'm glad it's worked well for you. Truth is, since I was 5 years old bringing home things I made at school and getting that "Oh, that's great honey" from my mom, the reason I've been a maker for all these years remains the same.
I don't know if this Tray will fit the Gen-2 vehicles. But, I have a guy who has a Gen 2 who has asked me to make him a kit. If it doesn't fit I'll refund his money and send him a return label. If that sounds good to you, DM me and I'll get one going for you.
The M3 screws need to be 6mm or longer. Longer is no problem. If you make many 3D printed parts, square nuts are pretty useful. Amazon has plenty for not much money.
Well, square nuts have wide engagement in the edges of the recess so they won't spin as easily as hex nuts. But, if you get the hex nuts in place, I'd run a screw into them to hold them in position then put a few drops of CA glue in the recess. The screws that hold the Tray to the Tray Support...
I can't say it will work with ANY tray. But most of the trays that fit the console should work. The critical thing is the height of the tray. The one I'm using in the kits is 2.25" high. There's one on AliExpress that's only 1.53" high. I'm pretty confident that any tray with a height between...
I use a very thin tape but I don't think it would matter as long as it's less than say 15mil (less than .5mm, right?). When you have the Lifting Tab printed you'll know what'll work. Re materials, the Brackets could be really stiff but the Tray Support and Front Spreader need to have some flex...
I added a jpeg of the Assembly Guide (.pdf) for the Kit up in the original post. Some folks were asking if the Tray was included and other things like that. The Guide shows the Kit contents as well as the assembly/installation sequence.
Thanks for the kind words!
I'm offering kits that include the Tray, the 3D printed parts, the fasteners, tape, and assembly guide. $95 shipped CONUS. DM me and we'll make it happen for you.

Sounds good. He should be successful. The only tricky part will be determining the location of the Tray Support mounting holes you'll need to drill in the Tray. I tried to describe how I would do it in the printables notes. If people really struggle, I'll make a video.
I'm using this one. Interestingly, it's the same as the one that was gifted to me a year ago. The molding identification on the underside is identical. I think several 'distributors/resellers carry it.
edit: here's the darn link, doh...
I'm printing in Prusament Jet Black PETG. The parts in my Rivian have been working without issue for more than a year so I feel pretty good about the material and print settings.
Just uploaded the files and notes to printables.com. Be advised, the files DO NOT include the Tray.

I got an organizer tray for the Armrest Console a week after picking up my R1S (Gen 1 2024) in December 2023. The tray fit ok but it was a pain to use because 1) it was not easy to grab onto and 2) I had to set it somewhere while I reached down into the deep console. So, I played around and came...
