Dorn's in Mechanicsville. VA. Haven't used them for body work. Been Rivian certified for more than a year. Got my inspection done there. Seemed very professional. FWIW.
It's a complete waste of time for individuals lacking substantive knowledge or expertise to engage in speculative discourse on a subject they do not fully understand. This forum is not made more valuable by posts like this. And there have been far too many already.
Thanks. Here's something I'll be posting about in a few days. It's a way to have the armrest console organizer lift up and slide back using just one hand. I've been using one in my R1S for almost a year. It's a bit more involved than the headrest tool :)
I'm the guy who designed the head restraint removal tool. If you can't print it yourself I print them and sell them. $25 includes shipping. DM me and I can fix you up. :)
That's great. Can't wait for the post where a guy makes one then puts it in the center console so it would be right where he needs it when the time comes.
One side of mine stopped working. Fortunately the other side continued to work. The buttons on the armrest are just switches that trigger the latches to release. Mobile service replaced the entire lid assembly (meaning both left and right halves). If I had to guess I'd say the switch was failing...
I've read all 65 posts in this thread, the key word in the title of which is 'Reliability.'
In many of these posts the word 'reliability' often seems to be conflated with build quality, fit and finish, infotainment/connectivity issues, service wait times, and even poor communication with Rivian...
It will be interesting to know what the failure was and if that failure was such that there was no point in trying to jump the 12v system. And, if that's the case, how did Rivian Tech know that 'remotely.'
Can you tell us what the failure was that you experienced? Were you able to unlock the vehicle? Was the vehicle dragged onto the flat bed with the wheels not rolling (in neutral)?
To me, reliability means being able to count on the vehicle getting me to my destination and back—never having doubts. I would love to see data showing the number of major Rivian failures (e.g. 12v battery failure, anything that prevented the vehicle for being driven, anything that required a...
Perhaps it's unrelated but looking at the photos (nice photos, BTW), there is some yellowish discoloration starting just before the damage, more around the split area, then decreasing after the split. Also some damage to the trailing edge of the lug in front of the split. I would be interested...
Glad you like it. I had a mobile service last week and showed the tool to the tech. He was amazed. He must of done it a half dozen times, shaking his head and grinning.
