The drain on Tesla’s varies dramatically. I have a model 3, which I love, that loses 12% per day with no sentry mode on. I’ve contacted support several times over the past three years to raise the issue and their internal spec is apparently as high as 25% loss per day before classifying it as an...
This is what bothers me a bit about management. They have known about r1s delays for quite some time at this point but left their customer support team to get yelled at by angry customers without giving official guidance. This will erode company culture and sets up a division between the cs...
Looks like they are converging on messaging at least. This is verbatim what I heard with an emphasis on July as the likely time customers will receive units.
Those poor guides aren't given any more info/guidance than we get, and management expects them to bear the brunt of unhappy pre-order complaints etc. I feel for them.
same message from my guide. Sounds like they are slowly unifying on a response but no formal one from the communication dept...
Granted, this was >1yr ago, but CS told me it would not fit flat. you have to prop it up on the arm rests to lay parallel to the ground. It's a big bummer b/c that's a major limitation for our use case. putting too many sheet goods on the roof is not an option due to weight.
Finally, someone has answered the third row question :) looks like the second row can slide forward to give more legroom in the back, without dropping the seat tops. Probably gets a bit tight in the second row in that set up, but it's good for medium-haul trips where everyone can share the...
There are definitely delays. Not officially announced but I’ve got an awesome guide who “unofficially” said the first units are going out in July, but probably to beta/employees only, followed by customer deliveries. This makes it a 3 month delay at least on early pre orders. Kind of what I...
This is the same issue I encountered on the first mile drive. The room in the back was surprisingly low for kids in car seats. I think it has to do with the angle of the rear seats (kind of upright like a ridge line) so the slopes car seats didn’t really work. Hoping the r1s has more...
I've had a chat with CS (granted it was about a year ago) and she said the width between the top wheelwells/arm rests was 51" and at the lower part, 45". She said that plywood would have to fit on top of the arm rests but that it was possible. I can see that area getting torn up pretty badly...
I'm guessing the same...seeing that i'm in Mar/Apr for the R1S order and still get the "you are still on track for your delivery window." in the chat. It may be automated responses to hold the line at this point b/c it's clearly past Mar/Apr :)
I had a related experience with Tesla. Bought my M3, specific VIN, config that I did not change for >2 years (basic, black, single motor) etc. I went to the delivery center in Fremont and they said they'd be back in 5 minutes with the car and I'd be able to drive home. 3 hours later...I couldn't...
some analysis in owners forum. Seems correct. Shows a button on the under lip area to close and based on the gate design that button should be accessible when closed.

I’m hoping this is an oversight in the manual. I recall reading somewhere that the nhtsa requires a way to access egress points from the outside in emergency situations so I’m guessing they have a button? Or they’ve got a big recall on their hands potentially if they launch without it.
I think CS is just distinguishing between a cup and bottle holder (cup holder in the center of the vehicle, bottle holders on the sides (door wells and hips), so there are "cupholders" in the third row if I'm reading this right and interpreting the screen grab of the manual earlier in this chain.
I've had the same experience FWIW. Guide said PBA is assigned when the VIN is assigned, not before, so it's a bit disjointed, but hopefully just means there are a batch of vehicles coming out and they'll assign them once they pass some level of initial QC. I'm April/May but expecting something...
This is great info, thank you for sharing. I'm curious about two things that I heard differently from my guide.
1. Are you certain they said a full sized spare could fit in the wheel well? The tires on these things are enormous and I remember seeing very little space in that area for even the...
Yes that was me. I had a guide call where I was explicitly told it does not slide forward. I was surprised by that so I asked 2x more during the course of the conversation and confirmed at the end of the call. Could be that she saw in a pre-prod prototype? Not sure, but that's great news that...
Had a nice conversation with my guide Alex T. I actually just pinged this morning via text (noticed the number in my online account) and she already replied and scheduled a call 1 hour after first contact. Pretty impressive turnaround.
She walked through next steps but was unable to provide...
I have a sneaking suspicion it was to keep the wolves at bay vs not saying anything. I suspect there would be some delays since there are no updates on an owners manual etc.
