Meadows of Dan, Virginia (MoD), has become one of our favorite spots. It’s 300 miles from home, and has a RAN charger (the Blue Ridge Parkway rollout). MoD also has, in addition to hiking and chilling, two good wineries within 10 miles. We’ve previously camped in a National Park campground about...
In North Carolina, my insurance with Allstate for my two year old R1T is about $1,000 annually. I just renewed my license plate, taxes, and fees. It was $835. That includes the EV fee of $180, a weighted plate fee for the combined vehicle with trailer of $266 (for 15,000 pound combined vehicle...
Range 350 in conserve, 320 all purpose, 210 pulling the Aliner, 150 towing the 24’ Boston Whaler walk around (Conquest 236) but I live just a mile from the boat ramp ?
As to the look of the Aliner towing, it folds to about 6 feet, so you can’t see over it with mirrors. With the bed view camera...
NC does not have them (Rivian Waypoint chargers) in the state parks nor VA insofar as I know. However VA and NC have the Adventure DCFC along the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is very nice. There’s good hiking here, we did an 3 and a half mile loop this morning and is apparently a very popular...
Towed the Aliner Expedition from home in coastal NC to central South Carolina. We we’d been looking for a place to go for a quick getaway, and a place that’s EV friendly.
The South Carolina State Park system has an arrangement with Rivian, and there are waypoint chargers at each park. Just got...
FWIW, my quad motor R1T (June 2022 vin 7xxx) has no problem with my 24 foot Boston Whaler on ramps in Emerald Isle (where I live) or at the Radio island ramp, or the Beaufort Town Creek ramp. All they can get pretty nasty. The R1T says it weighs 7,000, and that’s about right.
In my experience, EA stations have a 50kW Chademo combined with a 150 CCS. I’ve never seen a 50kW CCS EA kiosk (except when one was down rated). I do leave the Chademo open if at all possible in case a Leaf comes along, seems like common courtesy. So yes, I hook my Bolt Up to the 150 kW EA kiosk.
Really all EV drivers are in this together. Drivers of “small EVs” need charging too and their access is just as valid as yours. Let’s all pull in the same direction for quick rollout of more stations. FWIW, when charging our Bolt, we always try to take a 150 at EA, and leave the Chademo open if...
I attempted the update (42.1 to 46.0) yesterday and it failed, left an error message on the Updates screen. I called the SC today and they looked into it, pushed the update again immediately (I saw the download on my router), and it went on with no issues. I’ve had my R1T for 18 months, first...
I pulled my 7000 pound boat trailer (standard hitch, not WD) a couple of times on the .38 software with no issues. The boat does use a 7 to 5 wiring converter because that’s the way boat trailers work with surge brakes. I have a camper that weighs about 2500 that uses the 7 pin, but not since...
I’ve had a couple of issues but nothing very serious. The bolts on 2 stabilizers broke (my guess is that it was too much torque on a self tapping bolt). They replaced one damaged stabilizer under warranty (I installed it, less hassle to me, and I replaced the bolts on the others). I had an issue...
I’m in Emerald Isle. Mine was delivered in June of 22, and mobile service has come to me a couple times. The most involved was replacing a headlight assembly. I’ve stopped by the Richmond SC for a couple “drive thru” items.
The bed cam also makes it easy to keep tabs on wet dogs on the way back from the boat ramp ? They’d just been on on a short errand to pick up oysters at the seafood market when I took this picture, but you can extrapolate!
I picked up the boat from service this afternoon (first tow since the update), and it builds and stores a profile of the trailer, and estimates the range at 100%. The computed weight for the boat looks reasonable. This also shows the new “gauge view” feature. I look forward to seeing how this...
