I kept my LX470 for over 20 years. I am just shy of 50 and have owned a total of 3 new cars in my life. 7 if you count the 4 I've bought for my wife over that same span. I typically expect a car to run 10-15 years worry free and I've had pretty good luck or maybe made good purchase decisions...
While no upgrade path is disappointing I can deal with that better than a situation where they don't support "like for like swap" of the battery pack or modules
How can this be true? Please understand I am not questioning you just the Rivian mindset on this.... If the battery is not serviceable does the car literally just become scrap if a battery or module fails? I would think support for a like for like module swap would be absolutely essential to...
So as a backup plan to our summer vacation we ended up in Galveston for the week.... It's not Italy but still some much needed R&R for the family. I noticed the hotel has what I assume is a Tesla branded "destination charger" for use by hotel guests. I assume this is not on Tesla Charging...
You aren't the only one waiting to see this... no official description has been shared... the best I could find is that they are "working on it'. there is a picture in another thread with a hitch bolted to the frame but that is without the body mounted so it hard to tell how it will integrate...
I like the statement... "The good news is that they have to have the money needed to bring their vehicles to market at this point. There’s no doubt."
I'll be captain obvious and say.... This is really good news!
Any news is good news.....

I would consider this as an option for use during a vacation. Meaning I would want to have it monthly a la carte. If it required a term subscription then it would not be worth it for the months when I'm not traveling.
At least those are my initial thoughts
Has anyone else noticed that the front right quarter panel pinches up into the hood at the 51 second mark in the first video. Not trying to read too much into this since this is a hand built pre-production model.... But it looks like maybe he bottomed out the tire into the wheel well.
dang it... I missed it... saw the email come across and figured I would watch it a little later... guess I'll have to see if they make it available again or probably a slightly altered version
Every public event I've been able to find regarding the Rivian has had the vehicle "roped off". So I doubt any one on here has actually sat in one yet.
On a side not I went to school with Shaq in 7th and 8th grade... Imagine trying to tackle him at football practice...
I don't think I'm dumb but I sure have had a hard time wrapping my head around all this... but I'm trying.
Now I am goin g to throw another wrinkle back into the mix based on my extremely limited understanding of BEVs and lithium battery care. If we say the range for the 180kWh R1S is 410...
This is not the company website... The only way to order is to order online the Rivian Company website is http://www.Rivian.com. There may be a way to contact them on that website.
Thinking about the options for these vehicles let's discuss how we are going to configure ours...
Based on what I "think" I know... This is my configuration.
R1S 180 kWh
Color - Decidedly UnDecided (Charcoal Grey might be my first choice though if available)
Electrochromic Glass Roof (at...
The only thing I can think of that I actually considered was the cool factor of the Tunnel Kitchen and other possible features that will make these vehicles unique.... If I were younger and prepared to tent or roof camp I would be all over that tunnel kitchen. However, as my daily driver I...
Here's how I break it down (full disclosure - I am firmly in the R1S camp)
1. carrying people & animals vs carrying stuff - R1S = 2, R1T = 1
2. vehicle security (fully metal enclosed vs tonneau covered bed) R1S = 1.5, R1T =1.5 (Kind of not concerned with either option here but hoping for...
