  1. Vampire drain - what's the latest battery % loss people are getting?

Cross posting - shipping mode test https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/dead-12v-batteries.13653/page-2#post-310569
  2. Dead 12v batteries

Here you have it folks, a solid shipping mode test. As you can see (not very clear actually but I checked closer in the app) the 12v batteries last about 20 hours before they need to be recharged by the big batteries. This is much better than "non-shipping" mode - GG off, no connectivity - it...
  3. Dead 12v batteries

More data as promised. I had to stitch a couple screenshots together to achieve the pics. Labels are inset: As you can see, the Tesla loses next to zero electrons. Rivian shipping mode reduces drain but not perfect yet. Temps in the 40s and 50s. No connectivity to either vehicle.
  4. Queen Rania of Jordan rides a Rivian?

Nice catch. Wonder if the vehicle is physically in Jordan?
  5. Vampire drain - what's the latest battery % loss people are getting?

I'll be doing some additional tests too, using shipping mode, once I can stop driving it for a few days. Also new graphs coming soon too: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/dead-12v-batteries.13653/post-305590
  6. Vampire drain - what's the latest battery % loss people are getting?

Overnight is not a long enough test. The 12v batteries will power the electronics for several hours before the HV battery kicks in to charge them. So you might not lose any HV charge overnight because it is not being used at all.
  7. Vampire drain - what's the latest battery % loss people are getting?

Shipping mode is busted. Left it for 6 days and still used 50 watts continuous -- 1.2kW/day. And will be doing another shipping mode test s00n with battery monitors connected to the 12v's.
  8. Can a paak Phone be locked inside a R1?

Correct, if you turn off bluetooth it will not see the phone at all.
  9. Dead 12v batteries

Here is a graph of voltage since I installed them. I compared both 12v batteries and they have essentially the same graphs, which does seem a little odd. I would think they would discharge at different rates. The monitors run 24/7, parked or driving, shipping mode or not, because they are...
  10. Dead 12v batteries

I just installed bluetooth monitors on both 12v batteries to monitor vampire drain. But a side effect is that I can see if they are getting charged regularly -- they are, in my case.
  11. Vampire drain - what's the latest battery % loss people are getting?

I've ordered a couple 12v battery monitors, going to hook them up to the batts in the next couple days and gather some data. I'm interested to see if there are spikes in voltage or it's just a steady draw down. And if it impacts one battery more than the other.
  12. Vampire drain - what's the latest battery % loss people are getting?

Ended the shipping mode test.. can't leave it sitting, I need to drive it!! So 144 hours (6 earth days), average 50W used based on the trip meter, went from 82% to 75%. It was actually 74% yesterday so maybe temperature changed it, it is about 20 degrees warmer today... who knows.
  13. Lights flickering when charging R1T

The lights are blinking, I'm thinking, It's all over when I go out drinking. Sounds like you might need an electrician, or at least a multimeter and some diagnostic knowledge. So if you go in the app and "stop charging" then the bulbs stop flickering? How big is the mains circuit? Can you try...
  14. Vampire drain - what's the latest battery % loss people are getting?

Checked again this morning. Shipping mode, 120 hours (5 earth days), 5.6 kW in the trip meter, 8% lost (82 -> 74%). Checked it only 3 times during the test. Seems like a steady 40-50 watts if you use the trip computer, but it doesn't equate well to percentage lost.
  15. Steep Declines - avoiding friction brakes

OP - I would expect the regen to work much better at slow speeds/offroad because you are not pushing as much power back into the batteries. But on paved surfaces I would expect it to be weaker because you are building up a lot more momentum and trying to feed it back in. Your post described an...
  16. My Rivian completely dead from ~40% vampire drain after a month long vacation

It's detailed in the towing guide, and I explained the procedure in more detail to them in an email. I believe it is intended for mechanics to be able to do. The shipper has a full time mechanic. Edit: there is no risk of HV shock here because they are not actually disconnecting the HV itself...
  17. My Rivian completely dead from ~40% vampire drain after a month long vacation

I have left the ICE at the train station multiple times for more than a month. What I do is just disconnect the 12v negative terminal. Then when I return, I just reconnect, and it starts like a charm! I had the shipper disconnect the HV and 12 batteries in my Rivian before containerizing, and...
  18. Vampire drain - what's the latest battery % loss people are getting?

All it has to do is monitor bluetooth, wifi, and RFID for an active signal, maybe every 10 seconds. I'm very pleased with Tesla and I will hate to sell it, but just can't afford to keep both vehicles (insurance mostly!!).
  19. Steep Declines - avoiding friction brakes

If you are at a high charge level (85+%), it won't regen very well, but in my experience the regen under that is typically amazing. Like, "brake-check" amazing. As long as you don't build up lots of speed, it will regen like mad, no way you'll use brakes. The only time I have to use my brakes is...
