  1. Valet mode-anyone interested?

There are several threads here on this… here is my list: Reduced Power Infotainment locked in camera app mode No audio other than alerts HVAC minimum settings / defrost only Only front doors unlock. only front windows go down, go back up when car locks All compartments like frunk...
  2. Upgrade from 50 to 60 amp circuit to get to 48 amps of charging? Have 2 EVs.

If it’s on 6 gauge wire (or 8 gauge with a short run) you might not need to change the wire… just the breaker. $50-$60 for a breaker swap (you can do yourself) would be worth the extra 2kw of charging. It is marginally faster. My youngest daughter drives a 2023 Bolt. Honestly, it’s a great...
  3. R1 Gen 3 - Wish list

Do a work truck / heavy hauler package: * A split tailgate (maybe somebody will come up with an aftermarket one) for the R1T * 2 120v, 1 240V 30amp in the bed * Roof glass delete * 200kWh battery * 800v for fast charging * Coil over suspension option
  4. First R2 validation build vehicle rolls off the production line!

No lidar and gen2 hardware with limited trim options might be how they keep it around $45k at launch. Easy to crank out quickly.
  5. First R2 validation build vehicle rolls off the production line!

My prediction is the configurator will be almost as simple as the one for the new Chevy Bolt for some time... 2 or maybe 3 trim options. Everything else is just linking accessories from the Gear shop. Or buy from inventory. Keep the manufacturing process simple and maybe do mostly higher margin...
  6. Phantom / Vampire Drain Solution Works! Using 12v Battery Tender

The 7 way plug charge line is switched… so you cannot charge the 12v that way. Best bet is to add an SAE connector to the battery directly and hook up your battery maintainer that way.
  7. Successful EVPLAY install with GPS antenna, custom button & mic mount (full install video)

The install looks like a nightmare. I would suggest putting a very long ziptie on the cable before you disconnect it - so you don't lose it and have something to grab.
  8. Turning in my 2024 Gen 1 R1S, looking for a used R1S

21's are not as bad as they were a few months ago. 5 options now, including an AT option. I just got new tires on mine 3 weeks ago and Discount Tire actually had most of these available. The Ultimate Rivian Tire Guide - RivianTrackr I went with the Defenders again but definitely not the only...
  9. Turning in my 2024 Gen 1 R1S, looking for a used R1S

If the residual from Chase is $70k, you can move to a good used 2025 R1S with under 20k miles on it. Cars.Com, Carvana and CarMax all have them available, especially if you are ok with the LFP pack version.
  10. Turning in my 2024 Gen 1 R1S, looking for a used R1S

There are a few 2025’s popping up on Carvana and CarMax. Especially LFP R1S’s with pretty low miles. Tempting.
  11. Wishlist of small things that Rivian can improve (that bug you)

Here is a new one: let me define many favorite locations in the nav if I’m at one of those locations, apply different settings for each location like Charge limits, a different climate schedule, auto door lock, prox unlock, fold the mirrors, disable the lock sound, gear guard on/off, etc
  12. Need help fixing range while towing (it’s 30% 😵)

Speed and a draggy trailer will kill your range. I have a few thousand miles pulling a 32’ enclosed car hauler. Keep it under 45 or 50, 1.2 miles/kwh all day. Get on the interstate and go 70, my experience is .8 or .9 at best and sometimes worse. Running full or empty made little to no...
  13. Parking Light Activation

It would be cool if there was a way to keep the rear fog lights on too. Self launching or loading up a boat at night at a dark boat ramp is a little easier if you can keep the truck lit up. The rear fogs actually do a pretty good job if you can get them to stay on. My workaround is using my...
  14. Need help fixing range while towing (it’s 30% 😵)

An interesting experiment would be towing that same trailer with an R1T to compare range. In your case, the S might be an advantage since it keeps more trailer drag under the profile of the tow vehicle.
  15. Towing 2000 lbs with R1T.

There is an excellent analysis on towing and range impacts on the Aging Wheels channel. He determined wind resistance is more of an impact than weight.
  16. Gen1 upgrade to improved powered tonneau

I've had it on my 2024 R1T for a couple months. It is the third powered tonneau that has been installed on my truck. The first two (pez dispenser v1 style) jammed up and became inoperative within a few months. The new one (v2 rollup style) has been great. Much quieter and it runs a little bit...
  17. Large data uploads on WiFi after drive

We all know that Gen2's are uploading drive data and video to feed the AI models once they connect to WiFi after a drive. There are a couple of influencer threads on X that talk about this. It made me curious since I have seen spikes in uploaded data and I am on a Gen 1. I have noticed on my...
  18. Wishlist of small things that Rivian can improve (that bug you)

I just got my truck back Friday after having a service loaner all month. I’d like to see Rivian make driver profiles portable… like Tesla. If I get in another Rivian, let me scan a QR code or something so my Apple Music, seat settings, garage door, etc appear on that car. Let me have app access...
  19. Comma AI/OpenPilot Update -- Watch it in Action on Gen1 Rivian (Video)

They wouldn’t have much to gain doing that to gen 1’s… unless there is a gen 1 announcement coming at autonomy day.
