Interesting idea! When I go on winter road trips, I do want my battery as warm as possible, so I time my charging to finish only an hour or two before my planned departure time in the morning (as opposed to my usual habit which is to charge right after driving home from work to keep the total...
I'd be curious what you see after doing this test in other conditions. I had a 2014 Leaf with heat-pump, which reported the HVAC usage in real-time on its own screen. In similar conditions, I would have an initial surge to 1.5kW as the system warmed up, but steady state in those conditions at...
I have been noticing this difference as compared to last winter, but haven't had cold enough temps here yet to see the new threshold. I generally prefer it day to day, as I generally prefer to reduce total energy through the system and I have a steady-state highway commute for the most part that...
I’m planning to get these tires in a few months to replace the 20” OEM Pirelli my truck came with (I run studded Hakka LT in winter).
First use will be a one month trip towing our 20’ 5,000lbs trailer several thousand km. Truck will be pretty close to payload max of just over 1,600lbs.
Should I...
Per my response above to Donald, for us it was the comfort of having our own space while on the road, not some potentially gross and/or sterile hotel/AirBnB. We also do (on purpose since we have it) spend at least 3 weeks a year in it, sometimes up to several. This is while we still have two...
@JeremyP thanks for the thread post! My family is heading down (way down, from BC) to Utah area end of March/early April and I'm collecting lists (upon lists) of places I'd like to go. I already have all my camping booked, so I'm now connecting dots and day trips. The stuff around Kanab to White...
That's better than I get with my truck - I'm wondering if it is because you are able to mount the box further back so the air flows up and around it better. My box sticks out over the windshield a bit. I've got some "u-bolts" on order that will allow me to move it down over my truck box to see...
I brought home a bunch of strawbales for myself and a few neighbours in October. I was a bit annoyed about having to clean the loose straw out of the hatch over the spare tire area (spontaneous purchase so didn't have a tarp on-hand)... but I wasn't worried about bricking my truck at least!
We haven't been to any yet, but are planning a 4 week trip (towing) from BC to UT/AZ in the spring, so I expect we will use 3 or so on that trip - looking forward to the towing stall at them!
Thanks! We wish we were going now!
For now our schedules are dictated largely by teenager school routines, so 2 weeks out of school in early April was all we figured we could do this year.
Fair. I was thinking I'd get cheaper wheels next year for my winters and keep the 20" that came with the truck for my ATs. That's what I do my towing on etc anyways, so if I need the strength it is then.
Side-note: I was on Hornby Island in May (I think it was) with my kids class camping and I'm pretty sure I spotted your truck! I was stoked to see it. I had my R1T with me :)
Forum folk,
I am planning our first "winter-avoiding" trip from Canada into the US (we won't be avoiding much though, leaving middle of March).
Anyways, I know next to nothing about rules for tires in the US. I'm planning to have either the new Goodyears installed (which I believe are 3 peak)...
