  1. Carvana - Offers Increasing

Wow. 56.7k is a great offer!
  2. Just saw Rivian R1S burning on 101 Brokaw

If that info is accurate....the tow truck driver is in deep s**t :)
  3. BYD new 1,000V ‘Super E-Platform’ capable of fast charging 400km in 5 minutes

Indeed, but 800V architecture normally can keep north of 200kw charging speeds at 50/60% battery SoC, and in our battery size it'll make quite a big difference for road-tripping. If tweaked correctly with the right thermal management, we could see 10-80% charge times easily cut in half.
  4. Rivian Controls for Android Quick Access Pull Down

I do the same, the only problem is that you have to have your phone unlocked which requires an extra step compared to the iPhone option.
  5. BYD new 1,000V ‘Super E-Platform’ capable of fast charging 400km in 5 minutes

Correct. But... 800V is here already, the move from 400V should be faster by automakers and they're still crawling through it. I'm hoping to see more and more 800V cars/chargers and then it'll be easy to reach ~500kw charging speeds in the next years.
  6. BYD new 1,000V ‘Super E-Platform’ capable of fast charging 400km in 5 minutes

I'm talking about certification and validation for charging sites, such as certifying the safety of cables and cooling systems. Not talking about reverse-engineering...
  7. BYD new 1,000V ‘Super E-Platform’ capable of fast charging 400km in 5 minutes

While that's probably the case for most of EV users, if you want mass adoption you need to remove as many blockers as possible. Many people live in apartments with limited or no EV charging, and fast charging is the only option for them. Road-tripping is a smaller percentage but still is...
  8. BYD new 1,000V ‘Super E-Platform’ capable of fast charging 400km in 5 minutes

Yeah but Chinese companies don't have the red-tape American companies do in order to put such systems in service. Here you would have to undergo thousands of testing, validation, and certification hours and do a lot of legal crap while being very risk-averse to avoid lawsuits and such. That...
  9. Issues with Michelin Defender LTX MS/2

This ☝ In my experience, my local Discount Tire does Road-force balancing but 50% of the times balance is a bit off (I had about 10 tire sets in different cars mounted and balanced there in the past 6 years or so). I mounted the defenders (21") at my local Discount Tire and the balance was A...
  10. Battery drain and wind noise

Yes it does. In my case, if I know I'll be parked at the airport for more than 10 days, I would consider disabling the alarms and make sure it's parked in a well-lit area :) But most of the times, the truck is parked in my garage when it's for longer terms.
  11. 2025 R1S TriMax Ascend -- best car I've ever owned, except for the range.

I would add that what the consumer needs, are better EPA Estimate processes :) I found that MPG for cars has been pretty accurate in the past 10+ years. Having the city and highway MPG is useful for one to estimate your 'range'. We need the same for EVs: a) Highway estimate (let's call it the...
  12. Battery drain and wind noise

My guess is that the "idle state" of the computer and its functions consume more than the same state in the Teslas (my wife has a model 3 so I have a great comparison point since both cars are parked in the same garage right next to each other). Definitely, shipping mode in the Rivian is acting...
  13. When to proactively replace the 12V batteries before they fail??

There are plenty of forum users who had a mobile Technician replacing their 12v. I think Rivian is still doing it unless the vehicle is bricked in which case they make you tow it to the SC (as I had to do)
  14. Phantom / Vampire Drain Solution Works! Using 12v Battery Tender

FYI, I'm away from home and traveling and I left my truck at home with Shipping mode enabled and after 72hrs my preliminary observations are pretty good actually: - After exactly 72hrs, my battery went from 78.3% to 77.59% according to ElectraFi - Truck sleeps for cycles OVER 24hrs (It did...
  15. Battery drain and wind noise

I can attest, my wife's Model 3 in the same garage lost 3% in 10 days while the R1T lost 11% in the same period if my memory serves me well.
  16. 2025 R1S TriMax Ascend -- best car I've ever owned, except for the range.

THIS! Forgot about wheels @mcjohnson what wheels do you have installed? --> Check this video where José talks about the difference between his original 22" range wheels versus the All-Terrain he installed.
  17. 2025 R1S TriMax Ascend -- best car I've ever owned, except for the range.

Not sure what they've turned on or not, but I'm sure the onboard GPUs aren't consuming 400w. They're using automotive power-efficient versions of custom chips (think like laptop GPUs that are very efficient and fast while consuming ~140w top).
  18. 2025 R1S TriMax Ascend -- best car I've ever owned, except for the range.

Sounds a bit lower for what I was able to see from other Tris (I have a Quad). I would pick a stretch of highway of about ~15 miles and do it back and forth (to cancel for elevation and wind) at 70mph in cruise. Before doing this, do a charge to 80% (ish) of battery (DC fast charge or overnight...
  19. Battery drain and wind noise

It would, but mine is parked in my garage and if you said you disabled Gear Guard already, then you're half-way there. My previous experience it was with my garage at ~65F degrees and it was about 1%. Now my garage is oscillating between 55 and 75 degrees, so I'll know how Shipping Mode...
  20. Battery drain and wind noise

Anywhere from 1% to 2%/day it's considered 'normal'. If you're going to leave your car at home for an extended period, I would recommend enabling "Vehicle Shipping Mode" from the service menu which turns off a lot of functions to save battery. I'm actually away from home now and I'm trying the...
