Mine just bumped up to 130.7 from 130.3 after charging overnight. I wonder how much this will fluctuate and how accurate it is…is it from the bms directly or an estimate?
The Continental ATs should be fine on the 22s for all but intense rock. I’ve don’t some off-roading with them but mostly sand flats, and creek beds. The stock Pirelli 22s seemed very prone to punctures so not sure I’d use them.
See this Smoking Tire video at 22 min starting point.
My quad motor large pack has odd range displays too. It tops at 97% at 320 miles. Charging to 100% adds no miles despite adding over 5.5 kWh. Driving from 100-97% does not use any miles either.
My R1S definitely rides worse than my wife’s telluride in terms of comfort but for any other on or off road performance metric it’s far better…and it’s not so bad that it bothers anyone. Kind of what I expected it would be after the last update. Before that it was pretty poor.
I’ll be keeping my gen 1 for a long time, especially since it’s launch green. $68k after the tax credit was a steal, $40k less than what I’d configure now (tri motor).
I got Continental Terraincontact ATs on the 22s and think it’s a great compromise for street use and light off-roading. I like the look of 22s on the R1S much better and don’t do intense off-roading (yet?)
Efficiency is only about 5% less than stock Pirelli 22s, so a little better than Pirelli...
You might get slightly better efficiency but not more than a few percent and the ride quality is terrible and there will be much more negative camber in low or lowest so the inner part of the tires will wear much quicker. All purpose and normal height for everyday use.
Not me but I’m at 2.27 mi/kwh now since installing AT. I’m at 2.32 lifetime. This is a little skewed since weather has been good for efficiency for the majority of miles. Before winter I was at 2.42 so I think a 7% hit for AT is still about right. If you need every last mile get the HT otherwise...
Continental terrain contact HT in 275/50/22 is the tire to get, or AT if you want all terrain. I went with the AT and it’s great so far. Smoother ride and still handles well. About a 7% efficiency drop vs stock so not bad with an AT tire. HT should be similar efficiency to stock.
Right, R1S doesn’t tilt like the expedition it just has the top fold and bottom slide using the button on the seat.
The seat can still be slid forward (lever under the seat) without the fold and there’s enough room for kids to get to the third row without the fold. I think some infant bases...
Stock 22” road tires was 2.3. I was trying to say these Continental 22” all terrain are a little better than stock 20” all terrain which is a 10% or so reduction from 22” road tires.
Short efficiency update after a few hundred miles, I’m getting 2.14 mi/kwh. Was getting 2.30 with stock tires. I will track for longer and update but seems like these are a little better than stock 20”.
No issue with tirebuyer.com and local independent shop that specializes in track vehicles, autocross etc. They even had road force balancing. T is fine, 118 mph and Rivian top speed is 112 mph so just find somewhere else.
I have 4 kids 5 and under and the R1S works great! It’s not quite as roomy as our telluride and lack of captains chairs is a downside but it’s completely doable.
My setup is below.

Driver: 5 1/2 year old in booster.
Passenger: 4 year old in forward facing car seat (she can buckle...
