  1. Compact Spare Tire for R2 priced at $755

Too smothering and unadventurous. Instead I have them cache spare tires and supplies along the route in advance
  2. Rival: 2026 BMW iX3 reviews are impressive... R2 has its work cut out

Looks that way to me too. Unless you want the R2 to do something the iX3 can't do in terms of storage or off roading, or you want the cheaper model R2.
  3. lamgborghini

Actually, I just weighed it and looks like I have two lamborghinis
  4. lamgborghini

My car is yellow and does 0-60 in 3.1s so maybe I do
  5. open-source Rivian drive/charge ledger and trip planner

You can connect Home Assistant to Rivian and get all the data. But last I checked it’s not neatly organized over time and presented like this project
  6. Confirmed: Voice recognition local processing for R1 (Gen 1 and Gen 2). The R2 will have a local LLM.

The fun part: when Rivian tries to do all this through a complex LLM setup that ends up performing worse and less predictably than old tech (for way more money).
  7. R2 Heat Pump? Coming? Standard? Option?

It actually is evidence and is very scientific. It's not conclusive, it doesn't tell you what every Gen 1 or Gen 2 vehicle would do but it's good data.
  8. 33%

Easy to find a stretch of highway in Colorado that's 70 miles between decent fast chargers. Add in 3000+ feet of elevation gain and that can be 30-40% battery in perfect conditions let alone if it's cold and/or you have a roof box. Of course if it's 70 miles between chargers then you're only 35...
  9. Jacking with underside panels removed-jack pads required?

Yes, the "tire guide" shows this method: https://rivian.com/support/article/r1-tire-service-guide
  10. R2 Heat Pump? Coming? Standard? Option?

The charts empirically measure the efficiency of two different vehicles under highly similar conditions. It doesn't isolate the impact of the heat pump, but you'd think if the heat pump made much difference to cold-weather efficiency then you'd see a bigger difference on the left side of the...
  11. Ineos Grenadier drive event

It's going to get worse before it gets better, if ever. Perhaps direct the staff to garage one of the R1's. You can use it to tow your Grenadier to the trail and save on fuel. Plus, you'll have a more capable recovery vehicle close at hand.
  12. What Feels “Overbuilt”… Until You Actually Need It?

Not everyone agrees with me but I would say the subwoofer
  13. Acquired R1S 2022 quad Launch edition -- what's next

I would start with Moab or Yellowstone and go from there
  14. Grab Handles for R2

I would definitely put A-pillar grab handles on the R1 if someone made them
  15. Opinion on 20" tires for R1T

I think Toyo would be a big hit to your range for no good reason compared to the Territory. Editing/adding: Goodyear range is almost as good as all-season tires (you can tell this from Rivian's own EPA range ratings). Toyo range is reportedly similar to the OEM Pirelli all-terrains, which is...
  16. Rock Slider Comparison?

Bottle jack lifting directly on a flat part of the rock sliders right below the frame rails. Or with a little rubber pad on top.
  17. Welcome to Half Moon Grey, now available on R1S / R1T and R2

I would have brushed it off, if it weren’t for the comically over the top announcement article. Next: “our designers spent months in the wilds tracking the elusive Alaskan wolf so they could bring you a mind blowing new subtle yet bold shade, Slightly Darker Gray.”
  18. It's witchcraft, I tells ya!

What next? door lock/unlock that works instantly with no bugs or delays?
