  1. Flat Tire on a 7,000+ lb EV: What’s Your Plan and Tools?

Full size spare comes with tradeoffs. Take the R1S. I was originally mad about no full size spare but it would have caused a lot of compromises. Either less ground clearance and departure angle, worse aerodynamics and range, less storage space, maybe all the above. So I don’t mind the compromise...
  2. Feature Request: Activate Side Mirror Flood Lights in Off-Road Modes — Rivian, Please Read

I don't agree with "automatically", but yes, I have been asking for this for 3 years. The menu item gets grayed out when you are driving. Just allow it to un-gray in offroad drive modes.
  3. The OEM Jack: Good Enough or Risky?

True about sliders but you can also take off the plastic and jack on the frame rails. See p25 https://rivian.com/support/article/r1-tire-service-guide
  4. Flat Tire on a 7,000+ lb EV: What’s Your Plan and Tools?

With the standard methods you are lifting up the frame of the vehicle. The wheel is attached by the suspension. After you lift up 4 inches with the jack, you have just put that corner into Highest ride height but the tire is still drooping and resting on the ground. Then you keep lifting the...
  5. 2026.03 Update Pushed! Now Installing

Shout out to this post from 2 weeks ago - got the update today!
  6. Recommendation for correct/best shackle solution for R1S tow hooks..?

Not sure why you didn’t get more answers on this but I think soft shackles are the standard approach, don’t see why hard shackles would be a problem (though not my choice for a kinetic pull).
  7. What was the ordering process like for R1T and R1S when they were priest launched

as I recall, you configured your preorder online. Then you waited 1-3 years for your number to come up. when it was your turn, you got an email and access to the online “shop” page. At that time you could either wait for your preordered configuration to be built and ready, or you could pick one...
  8. Flat Tire on a 7,000+ lb EV: What’s Your Plan and Tools?

Thanks Mark for the details. I would just add that with rock sliders, some things get easier. You're not limited to lifting at the jacking points. You can use a bottle jack to lift partway, place a jack stand right next to it, then add lifting under the bottle jack to get more height. Of course...
  9. Flat Tire on a 7,000+ lb EV: What’s Your Plan and Tools?

3 questions: (1) any issues with storing the bottle jack on its side? (2) why a scissor jack and also a bottle jack? (3) do you keep the compact spare in the R1S as well?
  10. Flat Tire on a 7,000+ lb EV: What’s Your Plan and Tools?

My legs work fine and I'm not in a hurry. The car was always more of a "nice to have".
  11. Renting an R1S

It will make it to breck but be aware that 4000ft elevation gain can eat an extra 40 miles of range. I would just plan to fast charge in Frisco on the way up so you have nothing to worry about the rest of the trip.
  12. Cold weather improvements - update 2026.03.0 and app version 3.9

Not related to the update, but you can precondition by using the phone app to turn on the climate control system. Is that what you want or something else?
  13. 2026.03 Update Pushed! Now Installing

Me too but it will still flash some of the exterior lights just to say hi.
  14. Got up close with Rivian R2 last week

Really hope this is about a lift or rock sliders, not a center console organizer or whatever
  15. 2026.03 Update Pushed! Now Installing

Hello March! Expecting to get the update in the next week or two.
  16. DIY Tire Rotation?

Floor jack sounds a lot easier. I use a bottle jack and the “double lift method” where every time I lift a point, I raise it up until it tilts, then go back down and reposition the jack, then up again. I also do a 5 tire rotation which means only one corner is off the ground at a time...
  17. New Wheels!! (Atomic AWZZ wrapped in Toyo at3 ev xl (275/60/20)

275/60R20 is 33" diameter, the OEM Pirelli 20" ATs are a 34" diameter. Pick an OEM size in the menu that is 33", like the OEM Goodyear Wranglers.
  18. Countering cold, winter weather effects for those living in the northern states.

Also because the "miles" number is meaningless to begin with.
  19. DIY Tire Rotation?

Interesting. Jacking from Low ride height and putting stands under the control arms is not the usual way to do it. I'd imagine it involves a lot of travel to get the wheels to come up off the ground, then lowering way back down to get onto the jack stands. But it if works, it works.
  20. Countering cold, winter weather effects for those living in the northern states.

Not sure what your beef is here. You are complaining about your Mach-E. People are reporting neutral to good experiences with their R1. Then you are extrapolating to complain about R2, a vehicle that nobody owns yet. Meanwhile, what other brand are you going to go with? So far, the only ones...
