It is crazy, but so is a 707hp TRX, a Trackhawk, Model X Plaid, Demon, Lucid Sapphire, C63 AMG, etc. etc. etc.
Does anyone "need" road-going vehicles capable of two second 0-60 times running single digit quarter mile times? Of course not, but they sure are a lot of fun.
Performance trucks...
I cancelled my order when they jacked prices and said they would not honor it for anyone who had not taken delivery yet. That just left a bad taste in my mouth. They reversed course, and I messaged them to explain I still wanted the vehicle at the original price. They reinstated my preorder...
Ya, the taxes are brutal once you get to the higher trims. I was going to buy a Tri Max as with the $8600 discount it was in the 15% PST range. With the price hike not only do I have to spend more on the MSRP but I would pay an additional 5% tax on the vehicle. It was already a stretch, but...
That is very possible, but at that point the exchange rate won't be the biggest issue it will be the tariff. A Tri currently at $155k before tax will jump to $194k if Canada adds a 25% retaliatory tariff on US imports.
It's a consideration for sure, but performance is the only real equivalence. The Tri gets the max pack and about 110km of extra range plus all the Gen2 upgrades.
It's a hard pill to swallow for sure. Here is $8600 off but we are raising prices by $10,000. Ouch.
It's the death knell for me buying an R1T right now, but I can keep driving the F-150 for now and hope prices come down or a nice used quad comes up.
Ford pricing doesn't follow this logic. The F-150 is not made in Canada, the XLT and Lariat trims sell for less in Canada than the equivalent truck in the USA accounting for currency.
Are you sure on that? Can you define "way, way more" in some meaningful way?
Regional differences likely cause far more variability than Canada to USA.
What are the wage differences in Canada vs USA for similar roles? Adjusted for currency exchange of course.
Agree with this 100% There was a blue R1T Tri added to the shop, black interior and black wheels. I would have pulled the trigger on that one with the $8600 discount but not at the new price with the additional 5% tax on top. Really can't justify spending that much more for for a pickup 24...
