    I’m referring specifically to preconditioning. I’m coming from Tesla, which do not use the battery for preconditioning the cabin if they’re plugged into the charger. I would prefer to minimize the use of the battery and limit charging cycles if it were possible.

    Our R1S has an efficiency of 1.6-1.8 mi/kWh in nice summer weather. This is with our roof boxes. In this cold 20F weather, the efficiency is 1.0. This is because I had the heat going for an hour total while the R1S is plugged to melt the ice and snow. This counts against the efficiency, I guess.

    Here is an interesting update. I was out running errands for a couple of hours. When I got home I measure the brake rotor temperature with my IR temp gun. The brake rotors were around 20F, same as the outside air temperature. I was driving manually without Driver+.
