This is the fourth in a series of posts about how to improve how your Rivianās audio system sounds. Find the other three here:
Gen 1 R1S Elevation 2024.27.01 and 35.00
Gen 1 R1S Elevation Pre-2024.27.01
Gen 1 R1T Meridian Pre-2024.27.01

I'm glad.
Based on what others have said about the Gen 2 Premium system's performance, it's unlikely that my Gen 1 Elevation recommendations will help Gen 2 Premium.
I'm measuring @skyote 's Gen 1 Meridian this weekend and will do Gen 2 Premium next.
Yup, lots of changes. I hope to hook up with @skyote this weekend to do Gen 1 Meridian. Then Iāll do Gen 2 Premium.
Any Gen 2 Premium owners in Austin willing to let me measure their system?
I think thereās a lot of truth to this. I havenāt done a lot of overlanding, but the wife and I spent 4 days off-roading in Palo Duro Canyon off the grid. Over those 4 days, we drove out every day and used about 60 miles of charge, leaving 160 miles to āget homeāāwhich really means get to the...
I'd start with the stereo settings and bring 2 kHz to 0, 4 kHz to 0/-1, then bump 63 Hz to -1 if you want a little more bump for Atmos tracks. That should be a reasonable compromise between the two.
I asked myself the same thing when I read the 2024.27.01 release notes: Do we need immersive audio in a car? Can't Rivian do more important things with that processing power? I have a 5.2.4 immersive system at home and rarely listen to music in Atmos; it just doesn't sound that much better than...
That's a clever idea. Assuming the EQ stage is digital and applied before the DAC stage, it shouldn't affect SNR. But you'll want to be careful about using EQ to reduce overall volume.
Each EQ band has a width (aka "Q"). It affects frequencies at its center much more than at its low and high...
Yeah, the new volume scale is a bit aggressive. I suspect the engineers were trying to hit certain performance targets but "ability to hear people in the back while music is playing" wasn't one of them. It's probably worth mentioning to CS.
That is interesting. What kind of differences are you hearing between Atmos and stereo, apart from Atmos's additional spatial information?
Unfortunately, no, we can't save different EQ sets and switch between them automaticallyāthough I will ask Rivian to add that feature to their roadmap...
