I think Tesla did something like this for a little while, but what Rivian can do is sell me a "Max Pack Equipped " package for no markup over the 300 mile pack. Then charge me $10,000 once I get home for a software unlock of the extra capacity.
Maybe to deter people from automatically ordering...
The Rivian I really want:
Max Pack, Adventure Package w/OC interior, 20" AT w/spare, Canyon Red, charger, cross-bars for $88,050 ($88,050 after rebates)
Compromise to get rebate:
Max Pack, Explorer Package, 21" stock wheels, Canyon Red for $79,000 ($69,000 after rebates). I can get the spare...
Shouldn't batteries be stored around the middle of their charge. Keeping them on a truck or parking lot for awhile at 90% might not be good for the battery. Maybe I'm overly concerned as the time from charging to 90% to time of delivery will be short for awhile.
I just chatted with customer service:
CS:
Happy Friday! Justin here happy to help with any questions you may have!
Me:
Hi. I have a question about the dc fast charging network. Thereās a statement: Charging rates of over 200kW initially and 300kW+ in the future. Will the R1T Iāve preordered...
I took a look at the āChargingā page and see āCharging rates of over 200kW initially and 300kW+ in the futureā in context of their DCFC network. My question is: Will the chargers be able to charge a current R1T,R1S at 300kW or do we need to wait for new vehicles?
I'm surprised they already have a max pack pre-production version built. Maybe it's ahead of schedule. I'm thinking for sure I'll get my max pack R1T this year... and it'll also be a Launch Edition
What I figures the 11kW AC output would be from the charge port. An adapter would be needed to get to a 50 amp 240VAC plug. No reason that I know of the charger canāt be made to run in reverse.
Iām going to look into finding a used steel wheel and maybe tire at a local tire shop then buy my own jack. I expect it to be significantly cheaper. The only thing I wonāt be able to buy on my own is that mount that holds it in the spare compartment. Hopefully whatever they do itās not so...
I wonder what type of loaner they lend out. Another Rivian? It's always nice to get a similar vehicle. Especially one I wouldn't have to fill with dirty old gasoline.
I chatted online with their service crew. They said not including a spare hasn't been a complaint and that many vehicles now sell without them. I told him this is an issue and to send my complaint up the flagpole. Sure Carollas and Leafs might not carry a spare, but their competition is...
Automakers are removing spare tires to reduce weight to increase mileage. I think it's such BS though. I've used my spares no less than once every other year. Some times at night or in the middle of nowhere. Tow trucks will take way too long to get there. Plus, if you lose a tire with that 21"...
I just found out the spare tire isn't included. That's such BS. No other pickup truck ships without a spare. I had a Volvo V60 and got stranded in it without a spare. Bought the spare kit the next week from the dealer. $700 and only had a donut spare. Rivian won't be a nickel cheaper. This...
So what happens if a battery overly degrades? Can it be replaced on these trucks or is it completely integral to the frame? If my truck has 69%capacity at 7 years are they totaling it?
Does anyone see a price for the home unit? I want to see how it compares to ChargePoint or others.
also, is there a google embedded map or something like that? Iām curious exactly what roads the DCFC are on
Two observations:
1) Camera to view what's in the bed?
2) LT 265/65R20 tires. LT tires are a bit much for a 6k lbs vehicle. My f-150 weighs about 6200 lbs and I don't use LT tires on it. I've bought LT tires on a Tundra before and regretted it. Braking and acceleration are worse. I lose fuel...
Do we think those are the white seats? Adventure or Explorer package? I think this is my second favorite configuration. Iām leaning towards the same here, but with red exterior.
