I am also Red Canyon/Ocean Coast but have not ever received a delivery date because I used to have the max pack. I've since switched to Adventure/Large. I'm curious what your pre-order date is that got you an April-May timeframe.
I agree $2k is steep for skid plates, but I’ve never seen a rivian w/o the tow hooks so I’m guessing they don’t have the other bumpers to install. Therefore, if I don’t go with the off-road package I’ll need to wait longer for those bumpers to show up
I stopped a rivian employee today driving a launch edition. We climbed under the truck and he showed me there are two carbon fiber panels that cover the gear box and drive unit between the wheels. Those two covers with the tow hooks are the off-road upgrade
Just got an email from rivian with this statement:
You’ve successfully updated your Rivian preorder to R1T Adventure Package with a Large pack battery.
As one of our earliest preorder holders, this combination of equipment package and battery pack will move your estimated delivery window into...
I went through the configurator last week for a Lariat extended range. Before pushing through the order they already posted the $10k markup by the dealer. Plus wanted a $500 non-refundable deposit. Decided to cancel my reservation. Not worth it
Rivian is being very sinister with their message on charging. The R1T/S can charge "140 miles in 20 minutes". The RAN DCFC can output "over 200 kW initially and 300 kW+ in the future". The vehicle and the charging network are two different products with two different sets of capabilities. Read...
I'm thinking of getting the off-road package simply because that's what they're building now. I'm one of the people that skipped Launch Edition for Max Pack and got burned with the delay. Now I'm going back to Adventure/Large and am waiting for a delivery date. I'm hoping the off-road package...
Wait...I'm confused. I click on a YouTube video that shows an R1T towing an old Ford and what I get is two dudes chillin on their deck. Where's the video of the Rivian towing the Ford?
These chargers can put out about 500amps regardless of voltage. What you want in the end isn't current (amps), but power (kW). Power equals current times voltage. If you double the voltage with the same current you double the power.
I've used Tesla autopilot on a road trip and felt that I spent more attention and brain power checking that the system was working compared to just driving myself. Self driving has a very long way to go until I can trust it completely.
Do people really care about any of this? I'd rather they lower the price of the vehicle and drop all the hardware/software for self driving features. Self driving cars will be awesome, but I don't care to own one nor want any of it until the car is 100% driverless. I think Zoox has the right...
I have no idea if this is what will happen. I think I'm going to drop a second pre-order for a Max Pack just in case. Also, I may get pushed to the back of the line, but I'd assume by next year their production rates will be much higher and that line will be moving faster.
I think Tesla stopped making vehicles with different battery pack sizes (not considering software limited capacities). Are there any other manufacturers that make two different battery sizes for the same vehicle model? Maybe the F-150?
It seems that Tesla, GM, VW have all come to the conclusion...
