A quick check on an online potential energy calculator, using 15000lbs and 2000 feet of elevation change, gives around 11kwh of potential energy that could be recovered. Anyone want to make an estimate of losses over 8 miles from rolling and wind resistance, battery charging losses, etc. to see...
Xcel energy is looking at adding more pumped storage hydro about 1/2 hr from my house; its a lot of up-front cost but will last for years. Xcel has a similar system near Georgetown, Colorado that was built in 1967.

Im just impressed the sea slugs made it that far from the ocean! I'm more familiar with the large west coast banana slugs (having grown up on Vancouver Island).
If it were just my wife and I without the 3 kids, I could consider a hard shell RTT, but then I would probably rather stay inside the...
I wonder if Roman's passive aggressive bashing of the Rivian will continue through the whole week of testing. I'm curious what trail they will do in Moab.
For an electric car, one range that balances range and price is probably fine. For an electric truck/suv, where some people will use it as a car while some will want to tow or go places fairly remote on a semi-regular basis, there should be options to suite their needs.
Here is a land cruiser fj80 build that just got to the point of running. I think he'll quickly be looking to add more battery capacity.

It's easy to write theoretical specs on a web site, a lot harder to make it reality.
I really like the JRE build videos and am taking notes for a potential 4runner conversion in the future. I'm excited to see how it does when its done!
The R1S is really my only consideration right now because of the 7 seats and room for all the road trip luggage, ability to tow our trailer, and off-road capability for 90% of our off pavement adventures (I wouldn't want to use a fancy new vehicle for the other 10%). I think it will be more than...

Depending on the extra range and cost of the larger pack I may switch to that and probably get bumped to 2024.
The hummer could potentially be a good offroader, but my guess is the number on the trails will be incredibly low; probably a lot of people will get them as a status symbol.
The extra 2k pounds went to give it that squishy comfy American ride quality that everyone wants:CWL:
The styling doesn't disturb me quite as much as the H2, but I'm still not a fan and it still feels like an oxymoron; electrifying (greening) a big excessive vehicle. I suppose it will keep some...
That makes me think of our old family station wagon. The rear window would roll down and the back could drop down like a tailgate, or you could leave the window up and open it like a regular door.
I love the idea of the split rear; all three of our vehicles have full lift gates and we have had plenty of stuff fall out when opening them, especially on road trips or camping trips when the back is packed full. It's not fun when the vehicle is covered in slush and you have to slightly open...
