  1. Thanksgiving trip around Capitol Reef

Muddy stretch! Snow mode with traction control off, and there was quite a bit of wheel spin even though you can't hear it!
  2. Thanksgiving trip around Capitol Reef

    Out at swing arm city.
  3. Thanksgiving trip around Capitol Reef

We spent Thanksgiving exploring central Utah doing some hiking and offroading. We first stopped at Goblin Valley state park to hike around the fun hoodoo formations, then took wild horse road/factory butte road past little wild horse slot canyon until it meets highway 24 again. The road was...
  4. Solar Panels Top With Awnings for R1 by Solarrolla

I think it's a cool concept and they've built a few electric camper vans with similar panel setups. A bonus is when the panels are slid out they act as awnings. If the panel frame directly connects to the roof mounts it could stay fairly low profile and not impact aero too much. It may not be...
  5. I aired down, and my efficiency went UP (in sand)

I ran the exact same loop following my own tracks and the trip meter showed the same overall distance, so my (engineer brain) concerns over the tire diameter change due to airing down were alleviated. I was also very surprised at the difference in efficiency between the two loops while driving...
  6. I aired down, and my efficiency went UP (in sand)

I've heard a number of people say they hesitate to air down offroad because they don't want to lose range and since I was camping by the white wash sand dunes near Moab I did an experiment to test this idea. My tires (275/60R20) were aired down to about 20 psi which was noticeably better in the...
  7. Poll: Tie-rod failures when off-roading (Gen 1).

What part of the pass did you bend it on? I went over it a few weeks ago and one rocky spot on the east side comes to mind as a bit trickier than the rest.
  8. WTF Utah?

SpikeyMikey, did you happen to put your videos together of the trip?
  9. WTF Utah?

Oh man, that's so crummy about the tie rods. I wanted to reach out about tagging along but I was taking the kids to do a 14'er this past weekend. Don't hesitate to reach out (or anyone else for that matter) if you have an issue and have cell service. I'm just a few hours from there and would do...
  10. WTF Utah?

It will be interesting to see how much range you can add with the batteries. Looks like the jackery has a 30 amp rv plug; do you have the EV adapter plug for it? The BLM or NPS might be able to tell you the current conditions of poison spring road; I did see that the flow rate of the dirty devil...
  11. WTF Utah?

We went to the dollhouse three years ago, but in my 4runner, not the Rivian. Ironically my 12 volt battery died at the dollhouse 3 campsite with no one in the nearby sites! Luckily a ranger came by and was able to jump start us. We didn't take poison springs road but came in on the main dirt...
  12. New Utah Tesla Chargers Online - Cedar City and Green River, Not Listed in ABRP (but are listed in Rivian app)

Happy to see the Green River site since the EA station has been not great the times we've needed to stop there. Also it looks like a RAN site is supposed to open there as well!
  13. Have EVs already changed the off-roading mindset?

Have you seen @truckedupevs YouTube channel? He just did a trip using a champion inverter generator to extend the distance he could go in the interior of BC. Even though there was charging infrastructure around he was doing more of a proof of concept trip.
  14. Have EVs already changed the off-roading mindset?

For our weekend trips I prefer it; it's more about minimizing how much public charging I have to do. Last weekend we went from Grand Junction to the top of Yankee Boy basin and got home with 22% still. It was cool to go from the top of the trail to almost Montrose with the amount of energy...
  15. Colorado Tax Credits

I called today (several times while the system said it was experiencing technical difficulties when I entered a callback number; it finally worked) and talked to someone today. All my info was correct but he asked if I could email a copy of the purchase agreement from rivian and the full year...
  16. Colorado Tax Credits

I got a TPI-MA letter rejecting the credit today as well. I was going to respond online but maybe I'll try calling first based on your results. What number did you call?
  17. Colorado Tax Credits

I'm glad to hear that, as that's the document I attached. I filed last week so hopefully it goes through without issue. I'm still waiting on the status of my amended 2022 federal return to change from 'received'. They received it in November.
  18. A Tale of Two Windshield Replacements - Service Center vs. Safelite

That's what the mobile service guy told me too when I had my only service visit in 6 months of ownership (key cards needed to be reset). Good to know about safelite since I went with them in the past for other vehicles. Time for a western slope meet up/trail run?!
