  1. Official: Scout EV SUV & Pickup debut w/ Gas Range Extender EREV, 4x4, BOF, Lockers, Sway Bar Disconnect -- All Specs, Wallpapers, Videos

If that 70 mph is without a trailer, then a lot of people are going to have issues draining the battery and hitting reduced power mode if they're towing a trailer or driving faster. Our bmw i3 rex engine can keep up at about 70, but on the interstate by my house the speed limit is 75 and 80.

Ah the good old days of oil changes. There's nothing like that hot used oil running down your hand when you remove the drain plug.
  3. Who takes their R1T truly off roading?

What do you think about those radar renegade tires now that it's been a few months? I came across those recently, and since they make them in a 275/65r20 and a 35x11.5r20 it might be the tire I try when my all-terrain set wears out. I still have the oem 22's for road trips. I've been getting...
  4. Tested 35" tires on the R1T - for offroading / overlanding

Any more info to add about these tires and fitment now that it's been a couple months? Any severe rubbing while on trails?
  5. California Dune Limited Edition R1S & R1T Unveiled!

I think any color, including my LA silver, looks good in the sand! The important thing is to get out there and have fun!
  6. WTF Utah?

I hope the nevi sites get completed after the recent funding freezes. I was excited to learn there's one planned for Thompson springs so if we tow our trailer out to camp north of Moab we won't need to detour into Moab or Green River to top up before going home again. It still would be great to...
  7. Driving on soft sand / beach with Dual Motor?

Looks like a fun area! I found that once the tires without traction are spinning you need to press the accelerator farther to get the traction control to grab the brakes enough to keep going, and it depends on drive mode and if you turn down or turn off traction control. I spent some time...
  8. California FS: DCE/Weistec R1S Rock Sliders

Do these fit the gen 2 R1S as well?
  9. Playing in the sand at the White Wash sand dunes

I throw extra recovery gear on the frunk if I'm going on a trip that might need it! Post in thread 'Adventures with our 2025 Rivian R1S dual motor max pack' https://expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/adventures-with-our-2025-rivian-r1s-dual-motor-max-pack.246506/post-3195982
  10. Playing in the sand at the White Wash sand dunes

I didn't see flags mentioned in the information for the dunes. https://www.blm.gov/visit/whitewash-sand-dunes-open-ohv-area-and-trail-system
  11. Playing in the sand at the White Wash sand dunes

I also got to use the ARB snatch strap when the 4runner got buried in a bowl. A compact snow shovel also works great in the sand!
  12. Playing in the sand at the White Wash sand dunes

We had a fun day trip yesterday learning to drive in the sand at the white wash sand dunes north of Moab. There are a few square miles designated 'open riding' so you can explore where you want (or dare) to. There are also sandstone features so it creates some interesting transitions. We were...
  13. Testing three compressors for airing up tires.

I recently purchased a viair 88p air compressor as an improvement over a cheap $20 compressor. I also have the rivian portable compressor because I didn't get the offroad package and so I don't have the built- in compressor. I decided to time how long it would take to reinflate a tire from 30 to...
  14. Tire snow chains or cables for R1T

I bought the autotrac self tightening chains for my tires, 275/50r22 and 275/60r20. I test for them to check the clearance but have not had to use them in the snow yet. I doubt they would fit the 275/65r20 tire size as the tensioners are about at their limit on my tires.
  15. 2 Year Anniversary review with my Rivian R1S

Great post on your experience over the last couple years! I hope we continue to have a fairly trouble free experience as we are 4 months into owning our 2025 R1S dual motor, and almost 11k miles already! I'm already browsing lists of trails now that spring is just around the corner!
  16. Edmunds' 2025 Gen2 R1T Dual Motor vs. Tacoma TRD Pro Off-Road Comparison

Unrelated but good to note: watch out for those wash-outs in the desert! No one was around so I couldn't offer to pull them out.
  17. Edmunds' 2025 Gen2 R1T Dual Motor vs. Tacoma TRD Pro Off-Road Comparison

I've played around on some spots that cross up the axles and lift a tire. As the tire is spinning I'm slowly pressing the accelerator further and you can see how the tire doesn't spin wildly out of control. Snow and offroad mode both get through this spot but there's definitely a difference in...
  18. Edmunds' 2025 Gen2 R1T Dual Motor vs. Tacoma TRD Pro Off-Road Comparison

I have found with my dual motor (non performance) that you have to avoid the instinct to let off when a tire spins a bit, or the traction control doesn't have time to work. When a tire starts spinning you have to press further on the accelerator and unlike a gas vehicle which will excessively...
  19. Exploring southern Utah slot canyons over New Years

I showed my kids the picture of that tree house in your trip report, and they want to go there!
  20. Exploring southern Utah slot canyons over New Years

The tires are 275/60r20 Bridgestone dueler a/t which were the factory tires off a full size truck that I got for $200 (someone lifted their new truck so they were selling the stock tires), so even though they are 115 load rated and not as heavy duty as I prefer, I figured I would give them a...
