If that 70 mph is without a trailer, then a lot of people are going to have issues draining the battery and hitting reduced power mode if they're towing a trailer or driving faster. Our bmw i3 rex engine can keep up at about 70, but on the interstate by my house the speed limit is 75 and 80.
What do you think about those radar renegade tires now that it's been a few months? I came across those recently, and since they make them in a 275/65r20 and a 35x11.5r20 it might be the tire I try when my all-terrain set wears out. I still have the oem 22's for road trips.
I've been getting...
I hope the nevi sites get completed after the recent funding freezes. I was excited to learn there's one planned for Thompson springs so if we tow our trailer out to camp north of Moab we won't need to detour into Moab or Green River to top up before going home again. It still would be great to...
Looks like a fun area! I found that once the tires without traction are spinning you need to press the accelerator farther to get the traction control to grab the brakes enough to keep going, and it depends on drive mode and if you turn down or turn off traction control. I spent some time...
I throw extra recovery gear on the frunk if I'm going on a trip that might need it!

We had a fun day trip yesterday learning to drive in the sand at the white wash sand dunes north of Moab. There are a few square miles designated 'open riding' so you can explore where you want (or dare) to. There are also sandstone features so it creates some interesting transitions. We were...
I recently purchased a viair 88p air compressor as an improvement over a cheap $20 compressor. I also have the rivian portable compressor because I didn't get the offroad package and so I don't have the built- in compressor. I decided to time how long it would take to reinflate a tire from 30 to...
I bought the autotrac self tightening chains for my tires, 275/50r22 and 275/60r20. I test for them to check the clearance but have not had to use them in the snow yet. I doubt they would fit the 275/65r20 tire size as the tensioners are about at their limit on my tires.
Great post on your experience over the last couple years! I hope we continue to have a fairly trouble free experience as we are 4 months into owning our 2025 R1S dual motor, and almost 11k miles already! I'm already browsing lists of trails now that spring is just around the corner!
I've played around on some spots that cross up the axles and lift a tire. As the tire is spinning I'm slowly pressing the accelerator further and you can see how the tire doesn't spin wildly out of control. Snow and offroad mode both get through this spot but there's definitely a difference in...
I have found with my dual motor (non performance) that you have to avoid the instinct to let off when a tire spins a bit, or the traction control doesn't have time to work. When a tire starts spinning you have to press further on the accelerator and unlike a gas vehicle which will excessively...
The tires are 275/60r20 Bridgestone dueler a/t which were the factory tires off a full size truck that I got for $200 (someone lifted their new truck so they were selling the stock tires), so even though they are 115 load rated and not as heavy duty as I prefer, I figured I would give them a...
