I loved my ZuneHD, thank you very much!
For real though, the music-listening world has massively changed since then, even if I'm one of those that still buys direct downloads of music, or even CDs & Vinyl (then rips them to my file server). There's a multitude of ways to listen to music anymore...
It's something that technically works, but it's super-harsh on the motors (as it's essentially just regen braking). Hence why it's not officially supported.
I'm beginning to lean this way, as I've never smashed the brake pedal in this truck...... but my wife has. We use a nearby freeway onramp as a 'air dryer' after washing the truck (and for having fun with 0-60, even in the bog standard dual motor), and she had to slam on the brakes upon spotting...
It's gonna be a matter if getting familiar with what chargers are available & knowing how far away they are (if this is a route that you will be traveling often).
I wanted to get a feel from owners real quick on some driving behavior I've noticed in the last week or so before putting in a service request...
My 2023 Gen1 R1T DM is currently on 2026.07, and I've noticed that there's a slight lurch when coming to the final stop from regen braking - it's...
Fair enough, although right now we are all guessing when it comes to R2's ability to charge with the particular Tesla mobile/portable charger, unless there have been posts from someone with a 2026 R1 (which would have a NACS port) reporting this issue.....
As far as I know, that's the only way to change charging stops while on-route.
Like @Mellowyellow mentioned, what your default arrival % is set to will be a factor as well. I'm comfortable enough with my truck that I have mine set to 10% no matter what I'm doing (freeway driving, towing, etc).
My old Gen2 Tesla Mobile connector works just fine with my Gen1 R1T & an adapter to J1772. It goes red at first, but after about 5-10 seconds goes green and electricity starts flowing.
I've not seen any third-party adapter manufacturers making ones for either version of the Rivian Portable...
The tape I used may be a factor too - it's kind of a foam double-sided tape. I have noticed that the magnets are shifted a bit from where I set them initially (on the door side).
Might have to find something stronger...
You can only set it in the vehicle, not on the portable charger, nor on the vehicle app (the latter is an oft-requested feature.) there's a spot right on the charging screen in the vehicle where you can change the amps.
I think it remembers based on location, but I could be wrong about that.
You would set the amperage in the vehicle itself.
The Rivian portable charger is quite good, but if you need compatibility with a lot of weird/less common outlets, the Tesla Mobile charger with it numerous 1st and 3rd party pigtails is worth it. If you don't want to give money to Tesla, you can...
Just wait until you vehicle gets it's service done. It will most likely get rebooted during that appointment, and there is nothing in this update that is of a safety-related nature. The update will make it to your vehicle. Patience is a good thing.
Yes you can.
And just an FYI, adapter names go "what they are coming from" to "what they are going to". So the adapter you are describing would actually be a J1772 to NACS adapter.
It's gonna be hard to find cars that offer this kind of full-glass roof and also a traditional roof. The bodies are engineered differently for each type of roof, and on a mass-market vehicle the more simplicity you can have in the manufacturing process, the better.
Heck, the Tesla Model 3 & Y...
My Grizzl-E 40amp EVSE is exactly what I wanted - no fancy features (as anything that I would need to customize the charging process is part of the truck), and it's solid as a rock.
Lots of people stretching themselves to buy anything right now, thanks to an economy that's propped up by an impending "AI" bubble and getting battered by tariffs.
And while I love Reddit for more local stuff, it's not exactly the best barometer for what the average person thinks or does. It's...
