My personal experience is 180 degree opposite of yours.
I'm not sure how old my kids will need to be for me to want them to control the music from the back. At this point, I am feeling like they'll need to be old enough to buy their own Rivian.
It'd be best if Rivian can enable...
Now that I think about it, the 3kW was also including all the other car loads like the stereo and other background stuff. I even had the volume up to 5 ?. That's usually around 600-1000W.
2.5kW just from the heat pump and fans sounds in line with what you said.
Just wish the heat pump...
Based on some rudimentary observations of the energy going to the battery while L2 charging, I can see that turning on the drivers seat heater to 3 takes about 100-150W of power.
The Gen 2 heat pump takes around 3kW when running on medium setting. Could be more less if you turn the fan speed...
The adaptive high beams are one of the best features on Gen2. It’s really amazing.
I never get any oncoming traffic flashing me so I think it does a good job blocking out oncoming. Thats a big difference from Tesla vehicles that light up the road even on low beam but borderline blinds...
@B Digs
Can you comment on the max pressure these tires can be run at. I see on the side wall that it says 51 PSI max. I was running at 52 PSI cold, getting up to 54 PSI after driving.
Prior to pumping them up 52, they were down to 43 PSI. They sounded happier after pumping up. The...
Chargepoint Homeflex if you want to avoid contributing to the great american oligarchy.
https://store.chargepoint.com/product/home-flex-hardwired
Homeflex plug-in version can be converted to hardwire by just removing the plug. Since their garage has two outlets, it's better to just hardwire...
Thanks for that trip report on with the Standard pack.
I wish someone would publish an updated charging curve for the standard pack. Last one I've seen was from Out of Spec in July. It looks pretty much like what you described. I wonder if Rivian has made any improvements to the curve or...
Third row can provide cooled air but not heated air.
There is actually a refrigerant line that runs all the way to the back and a little evaporator coil to provide cooled air.
Not sure why they couldn't have put a little PTC heater for the 3rd row vents also. Yes, it would not be that...
Same here. Gen 2 R1S.
In garage, unlocked with gear guard off. Passenger side handles with lights on at random times. Nothing else about the car turns on or motors whirling. Just the gentle glow of two passenger side door handles.
They usually go off after some but I never stand there to...
This is not normal. Contact customer service and open a ticket. My Gen 2 std only loses 1-2% in a week, maybe less but I opened the doors and messed with the audio system for a while.
All I wish for (today) is for my freaking interior lights to consistently turn on when I open the door. I don't recall if it did this before the Halloween update but I really notice it now since it's getting dark much earlier. Basic stuff like should never happen.
I was lazy and didn’t actually watch the video until now. Looks like their meaning of float charger is from an external source to that access point behind the frunk. In any case, it’s still be neat if Rivian gave more info on how they fixed up the 12V system. I know it’s been a pain point...
Hopefully the 12V battery issues have all been fixed in Gen 2. If my understanding is correct, the Gen2 now has a "float" charger always connected from the HV battery to the 12V system. So basically all the low power drain when the vehicle is off is always feeding off the main HV. I actually...
Congrats! That color combo with dark out is sweet. If you always drive this much in a month, you chose a great car to do it in.
Were you doing some launches before taking that pic? Those motor temps are a lot higher than I ever see on my DM.
There are a lot of weird and inconsistent behaviors with all the interior overhead lights.
Now that the time change is happened, I am noticing more of the bad behavior of the overhead lighting.
Often time no lights come on when opening a door. Sometime when I open the rear doors, no lights...
I always perform a hard reset on the car after a firmware update.
I'll usually put the car in drive and reverse to fire up all the motors, sensors, and ECU's. Then do a hard reset afterwards. Can't hurt anything and I found it fixes a lot of these little temporary bugs before I even notice them.
I noticed the same the first week or two that I got the car. It wasn't loud enough for me to consider it abnormal. I haven't tried listening for it after a few weeks Just turn on the audio and enjoy some sweet tunes.
Car is awesome in so many other ways that this small things gets forgiven.
Added a notification that provides more information on the engagement of the rear drive system in auto-AWD (All-Wheel Drive)
I cannot figure out what this means or what motor configurations this applies to.
Rivian is starting to have so many current and legacy configurations that they need...
Anyone got any feedback? Can’t believe some of you notice a pin drop level squeak but not this. Is my R1S just special (in a bad way) or is this normal?
