They can't avoid the comparison though. Regardless of what they think they are, they are priced and equipped as luxury items, and will continue to draw that comparison as people cross shop.
**EDIT**
Saw this after I made the the above reply. Instead of deleting and rewriting, I'll just tag on...
110% agreed.
I was strongly considering another R1T once my lemon of a leased vehicle goes back. Plan was to go find a gently used 1st Gen Quad motor truck. Not because I think the truck would be any better than the one I have now, but because I knew the service from Rivian is outstanding...
I LEASED one and wish I could give it back early.
With that said. Customer service with Rivian has been better than any other I've owned in the last 2 decades; and it's not even close.
Such a polarizing vehicle. From appearance, to service experiences, to product satisfaction, to quality...
Some tuners for ICE vehicles do this as well. APR does it for German cars. You get 8 or 10 "drive hours" of time with the upgrade before it reverts back to stock. Well, at least you used to when I was looking at it years ago.
Dry storage.
Frunk + Gear tunnel means that I can take a family of 4 and a 50lb lab mix on a weekend trip and everything we need is in dry storage WITHOUT a tonneau cover. Quite remarkable for this shape/size/class of vehicle.
I'll push back on this one. OK is the right word here. You're accepting of the issue, I'm not. So it's OK for you and not OK for me, regardless of if it should be expected or not as a typical failure. I'm not judging you for thinking that, I'm disagreeing with your position for thinking that. I...
You're not wrong. Owning this vehicle has done terrible terrible things to my mental health.
I came from an Audi that had maintenance issues, before that was a GMC Sierra that was absolutely rock solid; and I bought an EV because of the "This is the best vehicle I've ever owned stories", and...
Mine is also broken, as are the side plastic pieces. I haven't even been as aggressive as putting firewood, or anything like that in there. Mostly just carboard boxes.
If they fall off I'll glue/tape them back on until the lease it up and I can hand this POS back to someone else.
"best work...
I have the second issue all the time. I solved it by leaving the fob in the truck, and turning off proximity locking for the fob. So now the phone is in charge of lock/unlock and the fob is in charge of "allow to drive". Been working this way for about 2 weeks now.
Least worst functionality...
Pay the $12.99/mo for the Tesla membership when road tripping. Usually drops rates into the sub $0.40/kWh range. Then set the nav in the truck to prioritize Tesla stations. Input destination in the truck; follow directions.
You can spend a TON of effort to find the absolute cheapest route...
Same ramp I bought from Harbor Freight. If you sign up for the "blue sticker club" or whatever it is at Harbor Freight, then they give you $60 off the ramp and the club only costs $20 and doesn't auto-renew. Makes the ramp only like $150 instead of $190.
@phaduman We loaded the Monster into my...
I don't think it messes with the warranty, but I know it's forbidden in my lease. Likely my insurance as well (haven't read that one quite as deeply). I wouldn't be surprised if the warranty has a carve out for "exrteme use" or something like that.
Mine also predominately does it at home, first thing in the morning (great way to start your day huh?).......I'm half convinced that it's getting a half-ass signal through the walls all night and has purposefully decided to ignore that as potential noise. So either the phone or the truck "Give...
Been following a guy that is "overlanding" in his Porsche. Roof top tent and all.
I'm now searching for AWD Targas for my next vehicle (and quickly learning I can't afford one).
They've been a thing for years. Any car that can't launch but has a ton of power wanted one. The import guys really made it a thing back in the early '00's. FWD cars making 400+hp and weighing less than 3k lbs weren't uncommon then. Would usually lead to lots of tire smoke from a standing...
I've done the same thing in my dual motor. The chassis will hold the weight in place FAR FAR longer than the AT tires will allow you to. It's quite alarming how quickly it both builds up and bleeds off speed. Aside from the traction control aids, it feels almost as dangerous as the old days...
Well dang, it's pretty eye opening.
I've recorded everything from inside the cab, from outside the cab as my wife drove by, I even took the frunk liner out and stuck my phone in there and drove around. Didn't help. All I got from Rivian is an "Unable to duplicate problem" diagnosis the first...
Agreed on most fronts here.
All 4 have been replaced twice now. Once to upgrade from the Dunlop to the Firestone units, and then again to troubleshoot a "clunking" noise somewhere in the suspension. The noise still exists, but I've gotten new dampers twice now. Also have new jounce lines, and...
