  1. DIY tow hitch cover tool

My heart goes out to your shins. I just can't leave a hitch in there. I would never NOT have bruises on my shins.
  2. 900 mile towing trip

It was felt most at highway speeds on concrete surfaces. The expansion joints that are regularly spaced are certainly part of it. Also downhills seemed to throw the cruise control into a fit. It can't decide if it wants to brake or to accelerate, and there is nearly no "coast" throttle position...
  3. 900 mile towing trip

It's the truck that's doing the jerkiness. I complained about it the first time I towed with the Rivian and was essentially told I was wrong and that Rivian was the best towing vehicle ever. I run a hitch with an anti-rattle feature, and I've had vehicles where that was the problem, this isn't...
  4. Picked up my R1T replacement for Rosie, purchasing from Lindsay VW, and the 1400 Mile Journey Home

I didn't read the whole thread, sorry. Did it come with those Atomic wheels or did you add them? Looks great!
  5. Surprised that the Quad-specific bronze finish All Terrain wheels are not forged, unlike the AT Darks available on lower models

That almost has to be a typo on the website. I can't imagine they would actually change the manufacturing process for a finish difference. I've been wrong many times before though.
  6. DIY tow hitch cover tool

I like it. Carry a Leatherman in the console, so haven't needed it, but this is handy.
  7. Clunk / multiple rebound from rear suspension, service center says it feels "normal"

That.....well......that's something. Appreciate the support, but I'm not gods gift to engineers. Although I will admit I do like to think that from time to time. I won't tell you I haven't had the thought of getting a job at Rivian just to "fix the bugs" and then quitting. Read a story years...
  8. Can you guess the forum member this one belongs to?

Interestingly enough I setup a service ticket this morning. They have me scheduled in at 8:15 tomorrow morning, and have a loaner prepped for me. I really hope they hold onto their excellent customer service. I would honestly consider another Rivian (despite how pissed I've been at this one)...
  9. Can you guess the forum member this one belongs to?

I've been close a time or two. I get it. I haven't completely lost my marbles yet, well not all of them.
  10. Can you guess the forum member this one belongs to?

I've been pretty pissed at Rivian a few times. My trucks white though.
  11. Clunk / multiple rebound from rear suspension, service center says it feels "normal"

My engineering days are behind me, but appreciate you keeping a lookout. I moved into management a few years ago and am much happier here.
  12. Clunk / multiple rebound from rear suspension, service center says it feels "normal"

You're not wrong. It's a first edition of a very unique suspension system. There isn't anything else on the market like it, which I think leads to some of the "Well, it's just this way" mentality. The noise isn't the air springs. It's the half shafts and the active hydraulic dampers that make...
  13. Clunk / multiple rebound from rear suspension, service center says it feels "normal"

These, in my opinion, are awful takes. Owning a high end vehicle should not be a noisy and rattly experience. Of all the engineering prowess that Rivian maintains I refuse to believe these are SUPPOSED to sound/act this way. I've had air suspension for decades and it didn't sound like this...
  14. Symphonic Carbon Fiber Roof for Rivian R1T -- by EV Smart Truck

I would pay absurd amounts of money for an opening sunroof on a Rivian. #1 feature I miss on this vehicle that I've had on others. Thought it wouldn't be a big deal, it's not a "deal breaker" for all future vehicles. I sooooo miss my sunroof :(
  15. Home Charging Error - Using Portable Charger

Definitely sounds like an outlet problem, especially if it's warm to the touch. I put a Hubbell NEMA 14-50 outlet in my garage. Ran 6AWG/3 Conductor ROMEX style wire to it, and put it on a 50A breaker. From there I run a 50ft "RV Style" extension cord to the front of the garage where the Rivian...
  16. Three stories on range: which is accurate?

I did a ton of measurements and record keeping on my previous ICE vehicles. Tracking miles driven, gallons used, octane levels, ambient temps, and dash reported data. What I found is that most vehicles (or at least the 5 or so I kept track of over a decade) were really accurate within a very...
  17. Dead Pedal Extender / Riser by TWRAPS

Wanted to follow up on this. tagging in @twraps as well. I ran the TuxMats all winter long here in Buffalo. We get a TON of winter "crap" in the truck. Just took them out this past weekend to clean the truck for spring. I had the dead pedal extender "stuck" to the mats the whole winter. Only...
  18. Chicago Block Party Photos - Half Moon Grey R2

Perfect. Thank you! I hadn't spotted those, arguably, subtle differences yet.
  19. Chicago Block Party Photos - Half Moon Grey R2

Oh, I totally get why. Branding and imaging is completely justified and clearly on purpose. No issues there. Wish the people that called the '06-'08 GTO a "Glorified Grand Prix" had this same sensibility about branding and styling. I'm just seriously on the struggle bus with my own ability to...
  20. Chicago Block Party Photos - Half Moon Grey R2

Am I the only one on the struggle bus on how to tell the difference between an R1 and an R1S?!?! I know they are physically sized differently, however in pictures online the scale is hard to grasp. The styling is so similar I really struggle to tell what's what.
