Meanwhile "why is Rivian not profitable still!!". Or, "why only 1,000 RAN plugs after four years!!!" Or, "why do I still have to wait to get service!!!" Or, "why do I still have to drive 200 miles to nearest SC!!!"
Tesla started delivering cars when? What's Tesla's annual production and...
Depends on warranty terms. Well-covered 5~6k. Multiple threads on it. BMW and Porsche annual production volumes are far higher. They have economy of scale in their favor. Apples to oranges.
That's why we in this forum recommend extended warrant over and over. Expensive cars are expensive to repair. That's a fact regardless of brand. Especially true for a small volume production car like the R1.
Known to happen in any car, when it's very hot and the fit/mounting of the glass doesn't have enough give to account for amount of heat expansion. One of many minute details OEMs face that consumers take for granted.
If the smaller car is engineered and tested/verified to prove it isn't necessary to meet the same safety standards, why add unnecessary cost? You're assuming it isn't as safe without it, without proof that is indeed true. IIHS report has yet to be released.
Follow what is on the sticker (for a factory delivered car with the same wheel/tire package you are using). What OEMs are required to put on the sticker is factory tested and verified during development. You can go a little over if you want, since no consumer-grade tire gauge is more accurate...
Yep. We'll get there someday: as many plugs as there are spigots. But, all things considered, there aren't enough now and that pace may have slowed due to politics. And the blog and headline, or what some take away from it, is a little misleading as well. IIRC, RJ didn't say he'd accelerate...
You're right. But the point is just 4 years ago there were fewer than very few RANs that I, and most Rivian owners, could use on a regular basis. And there are probably more EVs in SoCal than anywhere else in the country. And I personally have not been able to try one until the Orange, CA one...
Yeah. Really. Which one is it? https://rivianroamer.com/charging/networks/rivian-adventure-network. For those biased on pricing, link also show price ranges for each network and location.
EVgo or EA, there are definitely sites where there are only two plugs and not always 150 kW or more.
Or biased.
False.
I still remember the early days clearly, where there was just one or two RANs and none here in CA, where most EVs in the country are. Today, I can choose between two within 18 miles of me. Closer would be nice, of course. But I personally can see and feel the progress. And I...
And imagine how a de-contented R1 would devalue the flagship line of a brand, along with brand equity. Imagine a cheapened MB S-Class, or BMW 7 & X7. Honestly it’s crazy how some people still don’t understand that halo models are not meant to be profit centers of any brand, some 6 years since...
And fewer mistakes to make. Production mistakes are not cheap. Avoiding costly mistakes is important for any company in a make or break state—just 4 years in from first delivery of first consumer product. If you owned a relatively new business at similar stage, you’d be dumb to YOLO and bet the...
I would be shocked if it doesn't get punted over to XPEL. And good luck with XPEL. I did not have good luck with them when their windshield protection film did not perform as promised. If they don't give you the run around first, they probably rule this as wear & tear instead of defective...
