  2. Ford Says Large Electric Trucks And SUVs Have 'Unresolvable' Problems

Oooh, 20mpg!!! "1mpg better than it's non-hybrid sibling" according to the article. Give me a break.... Toyota needs to get their heads out of their collective ass's. Honda too, have you seen the internal documents for the "Afeela" they are trying to bring to market next year? 90kwh battery...
  3. Existing EV batteries may last up to 40% longer than expected, says Stanford report

100% this People need to realize that the dash board number on any car means nothing of you can't measure the actual energy being pulled out of the battery. And on some cars, specifically Tesla, I know for a fact that they include the reserve battery capacity in their 100% calculation on your...
  4. Installing HomeAssistant to capture Rivian API data - DIY How-to

Another good option if you already have a mission critical appliance like a Synology running 24/7. But I always had weird issues with USB passthrough. Windows? Hard pass. Oh, and it's not overkill. It's just getting the job done with minimal stress on the hardware. You know. Like 2% processor...
  5. Installing HomeAssistant to capture Rivian API data - DIY How-to

For. Sure. Also, ignore anybody that tells you to run home assistant on a raspberry pi and an SD card. That SD card is going to fail when you need it most, guaranteed. SSDs on raspberry pi 4S are okay, but the NUC and the official color platforms are the way to go.

Wait. You weren't running HA before you got the Rivian?? In all seriousness, my favorite automation right now is auto opening the garage door when the Rivian comes home.

  9. SoonishEV: TopoCharge Wireless Phone Charger for Gen2 Rivian Vehicles

Wait. What's wrong with the gen2 USB ports? Is that why I have so much trouble with them??
  10. Electrical people. Opinions on this L2 Install?

Oh. OP still totally needs #6 for 40amps continuous. Is he considering 8? That's a hard no.
  11. Electrical people. Opinions on this L2 Install?

While I certainly respect everyone's individual risk tolerances, at the end of the day, the code, which is designed with the express purpose of your house not burning down, says that it's okay to charge at 48 amps on a 60 amp breaker. 6-3 on a 60 amp breaker is what Tesla originally had in...
  12. Electrical people. Opinions on this L2 Install?

Not if the stab rating of his panel won't allow it. But nothing in the code keeping you from having total breakers exceed the OCPD of the run. Essentially that's what your main panel is doing. OP just needs to be aware that while he can run the butter-churner and the EV charger at the same time...
  13. Electrical people. Opinions on this L2 Install?

My AHJ let me run NMB in conduit for the garage portion of the run (not inside the house) for this reason of "protection". It was a good 25ft.
  14. Electrical people. Opinions on this L2 Install?

I always suggest 6-3 just in case you ever need the neutral for a sub panel. Cheap insurance compared to re-running.
  15. Electrical people. Opinions on this L2 Install?

Ehhh, I think there's a provision to round up or we are missing something. If not, every Tesla HPWC in the last 10 years would be in code violation.
