There is no $60,000 Cybertruck. Period. Is it possible that they'll price it at $60,000 when it's finally in production sometime during 2025? Possibly. But it's equally possible that the price will increase. You know, like prices tend to do over a couple of years.
I'd be surprised if it doesn't sell well but strong sales won't convince me that this is a modern engineering wonder. It's a napkin sketch joke that went too far. If you want to see actual innovation, look at what Hyundai's doing...
If people are shocked at the price of Rivian fender-benders this will be in the same range. Stuff that may be easy to do on an assembly line can be a nightmare on a one-off basis.
Where's the inside wiper? Or, in addition to the price of the Cybertruck do you also have to purchase a helper monkey to crawl across the dash to Windex the lower section of the windshield?
The smartest man in the world doesn't do rehearsals. Public speaking is a breeze when you can just say pretty much anything that comes into your head and people give you a pass for never following through as promised.
"Cool looking" is subjective. My wife loves her R1S but would never be caught dead in Musk's masturbatory fantasy car. If I had to guess, the gender-skew on deposits is 90%+ male.
I would also imagine that a collision repair on this is going to be anything but routine. It's one thing to precision-fit panels on an assembly line; quite another to hand-assemble.
The steps between dropoff and completion of work are a black hole, communications-wise. The service people are great and helpful, the guys taking phone calls at the service number are great but the app, which appears to be set up for regular progress updates is not properly utilized. Wish it was...
At the risk of incurring someone's wrath, this is driving me crazy. "PAAK" is an abbreviation and should always be capitalized, "fob" is a common word and should not.
