I rarely use the app but you can simply name each charger. Very straightforward. It's easy for us because we have one at each house, so it sense the right one via bluetooth.
My wife and I only use our iPhones for the Rivian and keep proximity on all the time. Works flawlessly 99% of the time. So it unlocks once or twice as we enter the garage to get something. Not a big deal.
I meant I never use my fob. Sits in a tray in the kitchen 100% of the time. My wife used her wristband for about 3 days when we first got the car (it's her daily vehicle). The "nuisance" of carrying a card in addition to a phone is trivial.
It's truly a race to the bottom for EV-bashing content:

I'd like to know where he bought his "Californian made" Rivian.
And assuming that EV sales actually hit reasonable levels (not sure we'll reach the targeted 50% by 2030) AND solid state becomes viable in the next 5-7 years then it should drive prices down. I've posted elsewhere in this forum about my 2005 Prius battery that was anticipated to cost $10K when...
My wife and I use our iPhones exclusively (used fob maybe twice in 8 months). Never an issue with either iPhone. Hers is the latest, mine is a couple generations back.
Was driving on the highway yesterday and my right front proximity sensor kept going off in a seemingly random fashion. All I could think of was that I possibly damaged the front bumper and was facing a two-month wait for service with random beeps every 30 seconds. Turns out my BrainExploder tow...
My wife and I signed up for Honda's hydrogen fuel cell waiting list about 15 years ago. We were intrigued even though there was no infrastructure whatsoever. Never rolled out beyond some California vehicles. Fast-forward to 2023. No infrastructure whatsoever and it's still expensive to produce.
Our home was built in 1967 and had 200A service (pool pump, heater, quad-zone HVAC with two furnaces/AC). We just bought a house in the country with 200A 3-phase service. Currently pricing out solar.
Hard to find a CEO/founder of a multi-billion dollar company who doesn't have an attitude of being smarter than the buying public. There's no requirement of having to like the guy, just have to like how he handles the business. Steve Jobs was a notorious dick but he compartmentalized...
We bought a home in the country (-ish) last year with existing 600A 3-phase electric (we have a utility shed with infrastructure to possibly power Mayberry). Unfortunately there aren't any affordable solutions to take advantage of that yet.
Can't speak for the Tesla but for Rivian the portable charger maxes out at 7.6kW. On my Autel wall charger running at 48Amps I get just over 11kW. So, yes, it's about 40% faster.
Another added benefit to my Autel is that it can be locked to RF cards so if it's mounted outdoors it can't be...
