  1. R1S Review: "The Tesla Bronco Defender" -- Throttle House

Also been mentioned before, but CarPlay, at least, already supports feeding the vehicle battery levels into it, which would allow for using mapping of your choice to navigate through chargers easily. That being said, it's entirely optional. I don't know why everyone is so against more options...
  2. Introducing RMaxx Running Boards & Rock Sliders for Rivian R1T / R1S from Team 1EV

For sure! And my wife will really appreciate being able to get in and out easier!
  3. Introducing RMaxx Running Boards & Rock Sliders for Rivian R1T / R1S from Team 1EV

Looks like they are still going to email everyone. I want to see the final details before confirming (especially the design), which I think is only rational. I've been fairly supportive of these since they first rolled out. The only thing that's really held me back are cutting the plastic...
  4. Introducing RMaxx Running Boards & Rock Sliders for Rivian R1T / R1S from Team 1EV

Last I heard they were going to reach out to each person and confirm the order before delivery, but that might have changed. This thread is pretty hard to keep up with. I think they should still send out a confirmation email to each preorder before shipping.
  5. Jack pucks vs removing panels

I haven't gotten my first rotation yet, but I decided I'd rather pay once for the pucks, then risk having someone break those panels (which cost who knows how much, and might take a while to arrive). In the manual around removing those panels (which, btw, require multiple screwdriver heads, as...
  6. Introducing RMaxx Running Boards & Rock Sliders for Rivian R1T / R1S from Team 1EV

@EV Sportline I just want to say you are doing a great job with all us crazies here. I'm feeling more confident about the purchase.
  7. Introducing RMaxx Running Boards & Rock Sliders for Rivian R1T / R1S from Team 1EV

I really love the triple-slot pattern as well. That's definitely my preferred choice.
  8. Official Rivian Email: A Look Ahead to 2023. Rivian Membership cancelled and unbundled into subscription services

The thing that really bothers me is all this uncertainty when you potentially have a vehicle coming. I don't care about RAN being free—I'm something like 1000 miles from the closest one. I never planned on paying for access to RAN, but if they were available as-needed on routes, I'd probably...
  9. Official Rivian Email: A Look Ahead to 2023. Rivian Membership cancelled and unbundled into subscription services

I assume they'll take the Tesla approach, and only cover basic navigation, no traffic, and that's it. No streaming, no video, no hotspot, and probably a limited navigation experience in general.
  10. Official Rivian Email: A Look Ahead to 2023. Rivian Membership cancelled and unbundled into subscription services

This is interesting, they sent two different emails to my two different accounts. One has a vehicle, one just has a preorder. So I ended up seeing both this one and the one in the other thread. In both cases, though, this email did not make me less anxious. The entire "membership" thing is...
  11. Introducing RMaxx Running Boards & Rock Sliders for Rivian R1T / R1S from Team 1EV

In the late 90s / early 2000s, we always called them pill-buttons or just pills. It's just a rectangle with a split circle on either end. As opposed to the squircle, which is a blended square and circle shape, the term first popularized by the Zune control button. Interesting, in researching...
  12. Introducing RMaxx Running Boards & Rock Sliders for Rivian R1T / R1S from Team 1EV

This might be a crazy request, but if the laser cutouts are easy to change per order, would it be reasonable to get a template and provide a custom design? Maybe for a small up charge? Not necessarily for this version for my R1T, but my wife loves ginkgo trees, and I would love to surprise her...
  13. Introducing RMaxx Running Boards & Rock Sliders for Rivian R1T / R1S from Team 1EV

So it looks like we still have to cut holes in the middle of the plastic panels, which means that if we want to remove those panels in the future, we have to remove the running boards too. That's less than optimal. I was really hoping to avoid that situation. While I already have pucks for...
  14. Introducing RMaxx Running Boards & Rock Sliders for Rivian R1T / R1S from Team 1EV

These changes sound great! I'm looking forward to the installation video to see more, but it definitely seems like it fixes most of the concerns I had. For example, the brackets appear almost completely hidden under the plastic, and it appears that you only need to cut the top edge of the...
  15. Added a splash of color to the front -- wrapped front tow hooks with yellow paracord

I just scraped some bird poo off a hook with my finger thinking it was chipped paint. In my not-an-expert opinion, they are a polished metal. It definitely doesn't _feel_ like a painted surface.
  16. Added a splash of color to the front -- wrapped front tow hooks with yellow paracord

You know, now that you say that, I don't really know. I guess I'll have to check when I get a chance.
  17. Added a splash of color to the front -- wrapped front tow hooks with yellow paracord

I like this. It's too bad they didn't keep the yellow hooks from the original prototypes. But I'm sure they didn't hold up to actual use (paint would likely get scratched off).
  18. Conserve Mode should only be selected while the vehicle is stopped? (says Rivian Service Center technicians)

About the only thing I can think that makes sense is you wouldn't want to change in-or-out of it while accelerating or braking. It would be harder to accurately sync the motor and wheel speed at that time (assuming they do sync them). Generally, I'd get up to speed in whatever mode I'm already...
  19. Conserve Mode should only be selected while the vehicle is stopped? (says Rivian Service Center technicians)

I can't believe nobody else has pointed this out, but the with the new snow mode update, the truck recommends that you switch out of conserve if it detects low temps and slippage. I can't imagine they'd ask you to pull over and switch while driving in unsafe conditions. From the horse's mouth here:
  20. Update: Your Max Pack Preorder - R1T’s Max Pack only available w/ Dual-Motor. Unavailable w/ Quad-Motor starting 2023

Given that Rivian already uses a disconnect for conserve mode, it's possible the front motor is the same between each variant, and only the rear motor is enhanced. In that case, for distance driving you'd have basically the same vehicle, save a very small increase in weight for the rear motor...
