I have a mantra - you can never have too many flashlights. Having one within arms reach, always charged and ready, seems like a very good idea. BUt I don't like to carry much in my pockets.
I am at a point in life where I don't ever want to drive a 'basic' car.
Ok, confession - I have never wanted to drive a basic car.
I want the nice version, with bells and whistles, good performance, comfortable and quality materials.
Life is too short to drive a boring vehicle, in my view.
The drop window is the one feature that would push me away from the R2 if it was not available.
I have a 4Runner which has the drop window standard, which is very hard to find in today's market. I use it weekly, at least. Very functional and extremely useful.
There may be many people who see...
Never been a fan of the station wagon look.
As an aside, I just learned where that term came from; In the old days they used to provide horse drawn wooden wagons (and later motorized Model Ts) that would take you and your luggage to the train station. Station. Wagon. Because they were...
We aren't there - yet. But you do make a good point. We would not have the EVs we have today without Musk showing how well it could be done. OTA will be a defining feature of future cars - we have Elon to thank for that too. He's still nutty, but he has done an awful lot of technical innovation...
Same is true here in Texas. I suspect I will be buying the Tesla NACS wall unit. I have Tesla solar panels and PowerWall batteries, so I already have and use the app. (Bought them before Elon came out as being, well, you know...nutty)
Hmmm. I didn't know about 'Ascend' vs 'Adventure', but I see it now. It's weird how Rivian has approached this. Unnecessarily confusing to me, but I digress.
For the R2, obviously we still don't know the details. But we know the L:E has a premium interior.
For the R1, I looked at the Dual...
This is just my interpretation of the wording in the recent email update on the LE:
“On the inside, customers can choose between two all-new premium interiors:”

The email that came out yesterday was an update about Launch Edition R2s. Here's the part that talks about interiors...

On the inside, customers can choose between two all-new premium interiors:
Black Crater Signature (available first)
Inspired by the dynamic dark tones of volcanic rock...
My interpretation, based on this latest LE update from Rivian:
COLOR
Esker Silver is the standard color. Other colors will be paid upgrades.
Launch Green will only be available in the launch edition (LE).
Borealis will be available in 2027, and not part of the LE.
(Since it is not mentioned at...
