Really? They're providing killer range and charge speeds because everthing else is lacking, only a Tesla owner would say ... oh, I see 🤣
Burn! Sadly, we can't all drive Wrangler 4xEs, which are truly excellent vehicles that speak highly of their owners' ability to make good choices.

IX3 and EX60 will both be $70K by the time you add a handful of desirable options. These products are likely over-delivering on range and charging because they are still far (far) behind on software, connectivity, OTA-capabilities, and autonomy.

I expect part of the reason Tesla and Rivian are committed to selling you the hardware for "cheap" is that they continue to generate value via subscription revenue and training data.
Incorrect for the Volvo since it is likely $58k and has the same spec as the PREMIUM R2 in terms of glass roof, seats, performance and range. But with better charging speed and stereo. Yes there are options available in the ultra trim which are not available on R2, but doing apples to apples you can get both vehicles for around $60k well equipped.

Look up engines blowing up because Jeep failed to clean sand out of blocks, left behind from casting, in order to cut cost.

I don't care at all about a Volvo. Not in my sights.

For me, EX60 P12 is my top candidate of all the vehicles coming out except for one thing that may be a deal killer: the autonomy system. My next vehicle needs to be L3 capable at a minimum. I am not signing up for a 5+ year vehicle that cannot drive itself eyes off at least on freeways. Volvo was on a solid path with Thor and LiDAR but then Luminar failed to deliver and went bankrupt and over the past few months they have pulled back. I am hoping it is back on track for the 2028 model year. If so, then EX60 is 99% probability buy. If not I am still holding out.
But, not a single vehicle available today has L3 on the highway at highway speeds.

So it would be rejecting an otherwise solid vehicle because they didn't make a false promise.

I've already been down that road twice.

Tesla FSD
Rivians promise to do eyes on hands free highway driving on the Gen 1.

This does complicate future vehicle choice as L3 is something I really want in my next vehicle, but I can't continue to make vehicle choices based on manufacture promises.

I appreciate your perspective and I have also gotten burned twice but I remain confident in this current generation of hardware. The NVIDIA Thor is 10X the Tesla HW 3 and 6x the current Rivian dual Orin. The RAP1 has a lot more compute. The Mobileye Chauffer is designed to be true "eyes off" L3. Both GM and Ford have promised L3 on their next gen (GM in the 2028 Escalade next year). IMO this is getting very close. I may throw in the towel on it, but for now I am holding out to see if people can finally deliver on the promise. (We KNOW it can be done. I have been in enough Waymos to know that L4 is a technically solved problem. It is now just economics and rollout.)

Yep, it goes back in a few months, it’ll stay here in St. Aug as the “beach vehicle” while we’re managing both houses in the short term. We’ll take the iX to the new digs in DTO. It was our second one, had a blast with both, top off, quiet operation, quick-for-a-brick, actually had zero operational issues even with the recalls, and really, we can get another ride / rid of it anytime if I had significant cause for concern :)

My comment stands: suggesting the Teslas inferior attributes vs. these two new cars (i.e., their superior range and charging speeds), must mean other aspects are significantly lacking - and that BMW / Volvo spent cycles developing much better range/charging because they were worried about OTA updates or general tech - just sounds like a defensive posturing.

We had a Tesla, returned it early off of lease, I know the cars well, the iX3 is going to easily be a competitor across the entire ownership experience, and offer so much more in some very important EV specific areas.

An iX3 (M60) or R2 are most likely in our future, we’d love to try a Rivian this round, but the BMW is very compelling.

Are you being sarcastic or am I missing the issue
Well if you like that and won't miss a glove box or front console storage, then go for it. At least you'll get the delightful Beaker Bin -

😂.

I actually don’t mind the beaker bin either.
Well by all means get one then report back here w/ real-world data & impressions for comparison?

A lot of us are R1 owners. I think a lot of us have learned to live without a glovebox lol

Idk…The EX60 is dorky to me…especially the interior. The P10 is not similar in specs either. The P12 is, and it’ll be a lot more expensive than the R2 Performance. I‘ve been briefly tempted by these new rivals popping up…especially the iX3/iX4, but I cant see myself jumping ship tbh. I’m really happy with Rivian. I love my R1T, just wish it was smaller. R2 Performance is gonna be awesome. Really want the Tri-Motor, but I suspect thats not coming anytime soon.
