Yes. I think my next truck will be the next gen R1T, whenever they significantly increase charge speed. I don't see any manufacturers working on anything that suits me better than a Rivian.
Also have the R2 on order to replace second car.
I love how they picked the Lightning in their previous review against a Quad motor R1T..
Even though their highway tests are lower range than, say, Edmunds' more calculated approach, it's still a realistic example. In my road trips (QM/AT) I get around 1.8 mi/kWh in Conserve at 75 mph. So...
Yeah I hear ya, but it's a mixed result. I would go for the road trip anyway!
Example 1: in Barstow, the Rivian charger is there, but Tesla opened up a 70 charger station to Rivian. Benefit if the RAN is full. (On a weekday I was the only one there, weekend was busy)
Example 2: Santa Barbara...
Rivian says they will ship me one, s00n ?
But in the most difficult areas I encountered there aren't many Tesla chargers either.
I attached a basic map of where I was out in Utah/Arizona. EA charger near St.George. Camped near Gooseberry Mesa, dirt road connects Hwy 59 and 9.
Yeah I did see a Yellow R1T headed out there in the evening, must have done a Hotel stay. I'm guessing you could get up to Monument Valley with enough L2 charging.
Thanks! That's a dirt road that connects Hwy 9 in Springdale and Hwy 59 in Apple Valley, Bridge road is the upper point and Main St is the south end. Great camping out that way.
Truck: 2023 Quad Motor R1T, 20" AT package
Mods: Roof Top Tent, Tonneau, full of camping gear, 2 people
> Drove 1605 Miles
> Used 886 kWh (1.81 mi/kWh)
> Cost was $312
Rally Mode is awesome! We camped out in Hurricane, UT and the washboard roads were smooth and fun with Rally Mode on...
I'm interested in the bike rack attachment point that requires no tools. Wonder if we can get that installed in our R1 hitch area for the same accessories.
TLDR - point is Tesla had just 1B cash, one product, making 50k units a year. Those are crap numbers that everyone doubted. You are focused on gross margins and that is not the whole picture. Teslas other goals are irrelevant.
Cool retro Tesla article. They were building ~50k cars a year, burning cash, only had 1.15B in cash remaining. It was 2015. Meanwhile, Rivian just hit 50k units a year and has 9B cash. They are burning it faster but already have 3 products, with 2 more on the way...
My R1T is my favorite vehicle I've owned thus far, and it's not even close. The value is also beyond all of my previous vehicles in terms of what you get for the dollar.
The R1T isn't a perfect vehicle, but I have yet to see anything else that I would be willing to trade for.
