Rally Mode is awesome! We camped out in Hurricane, UT and the washboard roads were smooth and fun with Rally Mode on. Our friend's Jeep GC in comparison was dreadful. Also got to kick the rear end out and power drift on the open sections. So good! I found a few hills to climb on and the truck went everywhere easily.
Head turner when rolling down the Vegas Strip and it always surprises me how many people still don't know what a Rivian is. "who makes it" is still a regular question and they always look impressed. Vegas RAN is a treat when rolling through.
Cruising on the highway was mostly Conserve mode, Low, Firm ride settings. I find the ride to be anywhere from Great to just OK, depending on the road and speed. Sometimes I use Soft or Medium on the suspension for a bit more comfort, but the extra body motion usually pushes me back to Firm.
At speed, which in the Southwest is roughly 80mph, I averaged around 1.8 mi/kwh. This was understandable given my tent was hurting aero being over the bed, but it still achieved EPA MPGe highway mileage.
I calculated a comparison to gasoline and the results are interesting. The cost on a road trip to charge averaged around $0.39/kWh at fast chargers so doing a calculation based on cost per mile equates to a lowly 16mpg using US Average gas pricing. It goes up considerably using California gas prices. My actual costs were a bit lower because EA gave me a freebie and I also got some other charging on the side.
Happy to be back home where I don't have to deal with public charging for daily needs like last week. The charging situation in St. George area and Santa Barbara were both extremely poor. Thankfully there were several RAN chargers to get me to Vegas and back. The Buttonwillow > Barstow > Vegas RAN experience was mostly positive other than a busy weekend in Barstow and 3 chargers down which formed a line quickly.
I could not drive my R1T from St. George out to Horseshoe Bend because there are zero CCS chargers to get me back, luckily my friend had room. Still a long way to go on charging infrastructure and the Supercharger Access should help (I wonder if the chargers in Page AZ are open to Rivian).
Awesome to camp in this thing. Auto-Level is always a treat and SO NICE to not have to worry about being completely flat. Coffee maker brewing on the gear tunnel door each morning, gobs of storage, so much to like here!
Cheers!
