  1. My R1S delivery adventure. Delivered 1/13/2024 (R2 and R3 vids inside!)

Congrats! I had similar feelings. Previous most expensive vehicle was my 2018 VW GTI I bought mid 2020 for $20k just before car prices started to go up like crazy. Sold it 2022 for $23k! Partly as prep for my hopeful Rivian purchase. Meanwhile went back to my still great 2003 GTI and my 1998...
  2. The first (and only) Aero Spoke Inserts for Rivian R1T / R1S 20" All-Terrain Wheels!

6+ months later and still no concrete data from the company, and multiple tests from myself and others which show somewhere between 0 to 2% WORSE efficiency with these on. Incidentally I've had these on my truck since the day I got it, and after 5550 miles I'm averaging 1.88 mi/kWh. Pretty bad...
  3. Scorpion AS+ tire swap (from 20" Scorpion AT) - WOW big difference

Consider yourself lucky. I'm at 1.88 mi/kWh average over the life of my truck (5600 mi). I have the third party aero covers which if anything seem to only make efficiency slightly worse. But yeah I can't wait to swap to AS tires. But I'm still considering trying even smaller 275/55/20 kind of...
  4. Finally got est. delivery, what would you change?

I would add all weather floor mats. Like others have said you want the 20" wheels for more tire options, more so than the AT tires, which you won't need unless doing serious off roading. Check out the thread on the Pirelli Scorpion AS tires swap. 275/60/20.
  5. Difference Between Launch Edition and Adventure Package?

Black and white interiors were free to pre 3/1/22 orders like my original order. Forest Edge was free to Launch Edition orders. So when I found this LE in the shop it included FE free, yes. Along with the 20" wheels. Note that I did have to pay more for reinforced underbody, though. 2000 instead...
  6. Question, Do we need a window rain guard and hood deflector on the Rivian?

These definitely need to angle slightly down at the back of the rear door windows, in line with the tops of the rear doors. If that can be done without them "catching" water in them while driving. Otherwise just make them go slightly lower.
  7. Difference Between Launch Edition and Adventure Package?

Mine from shop is LE, June 2023 build, 25xxx vin. So yeah it's by far the best value if you can find one in the shop with free upgraded wheels (but not "AT Package" or you will be charged for that), and free Forrest Edge interior. As others have said these are probably early orders that were...
  8. Question, Do we need a window rain guard and hood deflector on the Rivian?

After getting a small dent in the front of my hood and a cracked windshield both from gravel/rocks from big trucks (some a-holes don't have mud flaps) on my first road trip in my new truck - yeah a front detector sounds cool. Though I'd worry about its affect on aerodynamics/efficiency.
  9. Double Check Your Purchase Agreement

Took delivery in Oregon. Self registering in Montana, where I'm from and live part of the year. But I'm usually in California. Saved me something like $7000 in taxes and a ton on registration fees as well (crazy high in Cali).
  10. Rivian ordering & waiting process summary - An observer's consolidation of evidence

This is a great post. I just want to add that with the quarterly delivery timing updates, I got at least one (late April) that said they couldn't give me a date range at all because I was too far from a service center. So the service center proximity is still a think for people with regular...
  11. Update 2023.34.0 -- Improved Handling & Ride Comfort, Phone Call Steering Wheel Functions, Set Speed for ACC / HWA, 25% Better Sleep Range Loss

I'm not on Wi-Fi, and not with my truck and just got the notification and went ahead with the update. My truck is not on Wi-Fi either. Seems to have gone through okay.
  12. Rivian VIN Decoder

Lol This is why people need to use the signature.. Anyway if it's an S it is likely very new.
  13. Rivian VIN Decoder

R1T right? Check window seals. They seem to have improved them with newer ones according to the guy who did my tint (much more difficult with my tighter window seals vs an earlier Rivian he did). Also check door seals. Mine still makes too much wind noise at 55+. Check if you have the frunk...
  14. Towing + Efficiency: Please post your experience!

This is really impressive. I have the same 20" wheels and the aero inserts (which seem to do nothing at best or cause 1-2% WORSE efficiency in my testing), but stock AT tires. In 4400 miles already since I got my truck six weeks ago I'm averaging only 1.87mi/kWh. That's with no towing at all...
  15. Rivian now selling pollution indulgences

Weird how cultures/locations where people have the longest lifespan are almost entirely plant based. And I for one have lived my entire life without eating meat and been completely vegan for 17+ years and I'm in the great shape, the best of my life; people regularly think I'm in my early to...
  16. Rivian now selling pollution indulgences

You're intentionally misquoting me. I never attacked you personally. You're taking it personally because apparently you are personally invested in that industry in some way, which seems to be blinding you to the bigger picture. I said "virtually nobody" because as I also cited, grass fed...
  17. Rivian now selling pollution indulgences

You're right about the difficulty finding unbiased sources. The farts argument is specious. It's mainly cow burps that we have to worry about. https://www.foodnavigator.com/Article/2021/09/10/It-s-official-plant-based-diets-make-us-gassier-so-what-s-worse-for-the-planet-cow-or-human-farts
  18. Rivian now selling pollution indulgences

The EPA, largely captured by industry, is not a reliable source for info on this. They don't even bother to break down that 24% (animal ag is by far the biggest chunk of it, much larger than some other separate categories they did include). It may be #1 or #2 globally. Point is it's rarely even...
