In my experience with new EV's the manufacturer starts with a very big reserve, then ups the usable capacity based on data from the current fleet and battery deg. Seems like the deg is good enough they think they can up the reserve.

I just experimented some. Set it to auto height in conserve. Lowest seems considerably less efficient. Tested on 50 mile highway stretches.

There is one highway near me that is wide open with no trees anywhere nearby that always seems to have a headwind where I get terrible efficiency in any EV. That's kind of all I can think of... Weird.

Unscrewed the torx from the top of the end caps and broke off the bottom tab because I didn't feel like ripping apart the walls of the bed to get to the last torx on each side.

I would have done the same BUT the manual still has the storage locker in the front of the bed as best as I can tell, it just goes unused. I'm happy enough with my jank setup and the truck in my driveway.

Honestly I would have taken the extra six inches used up by the storage bay and this type of manual system over the auto system in the first place.

You're not lying. I had my whole bed ripped apart about 75 miles and 48 hours into ownership because I needed a truck to move with with the bed OPEN. I'm sure it's all held together now by about 25% of the factory clips.

Yep, I started to fiddle with it and realized that fast. I pulled off the end caps and made it a manual tonneau. Much much better. Going to make another post.

If you look at the tear downs there is a bunch of stuff right there, that is my guess as to why. If you watch the long way up there was a bunch of stuff actually under the hood that got moved for production.
