  1. Update: S.O.S. Need technical help with battery temp.

Not sure if it is the same situation but we hit a deer near Klamath Falls, Oregon. It charged ok after that in cool environments but when driving home to Hermosa Beach, CA down the very hot central valley, it would charge very slow as the battery temp was about 127-132 degrees. Finally it would...
  2. Quiet owner.... but out.

Service IS the achilles heel of Rivian. I just keep hoping it gets better with more service centers. I think they had no choice…..should they have built many service centers before they manufactured vehicles?? I dont think so.
  3. Common Myths About CarPlay

I totally miss car play as it is a safety feature not just entertainment. Yikes…I said it!!
  4. You've been warned! If you're heading to California this weekend, be on the lookout...

Thanks for sharing and a great idea! Ever since Covid in 2020, peeps have been going at least 20mph over speed limits. JB
  5. My 2025 R1T Was Bought Back — Sharing My Experience with Rivian Service, Quality Issues, and Lack of Goodwill

Wow, so so sorry to hear about this horrible experience. It would be bad in a $40K car much less a $100K vehicle. Service and repair IS the major deficiency for Rivian. The dept is just overwhelmed and playing catchup from the start.
  6. RIVIAN R1S charging vs Tesla

Thank you VandalSibs for breaking it down so nicely. JB
  7. Rivian resale value?

If Carmax offers you $60K, doesn’t that mean they will list it for $70K and take $67K??
  8. Garage Opener Problems. NEED HELP

I tried hooking that feature up when we first bought the R1S over a year ago and gave up and just installed a clicker on the visor. Old school I guess. JB

  12. A Beautiful Disaster — Rivian Is Not Ready for Prime Time

The service category IS the weak link for Rivian for sure. I dont know how they could have set it up any differently though. Do they go ahead and build many service centers with the commensurate investments before they manufacture cars so the service can be ideal or do they start selling cars...
  13. R1S Collision Repair Ordeal

I cant blame you……service and repair is the worst thing about Rivian. Will take years for them to fix it also. (((
  14. Ceramic coating worth the cost?

I took a while to decide between the ceramic coating and the full wrap. It was $1000 vs $6000. I wanted some protection form the branches scratching off road drives but just could not justify $6000. Went with the ceramic and so glad I did as it can rain all day and the finish does not get...
  15. Almost 1 Year, Rivian R1S Quad Large Pack is Great | Plenty of Room for Improvement Though

Interesting as I always get compliments on the look of my R1S. It is pretty elegant looking to me and then look what it can do. I can safely and easily without breaking a sweat tackle the White Rim Trail in Moab, Utah and be able to camp in the vehicle very comfortably. I can drive by gas...
  16. Why Don't EVs Come With Spare Tires?

Not having a full size spare on the R1S an “ADVENTURE” vehicle is the second biggest mistake Rivian has made after no Apple Car Play. Adventure means off road to many buyers which can be a gamble with no full size spare. There should have been a design of no 3rd row seats (which I will never use...
  17. Mammoth / US 395 Driving Assist gaps

I am good with it as safety is the highest priority. Many places it is a signal lane road on 395 which should be 100% focus
  18. Mammoth / US 395 Driving Assist gaps

I make at least 3 trips up 395 from hermosa Beach per year and found the same thing. I figure it just does not know its exact location well enough so the system is being extra safe. I am no expert though. I also prefer hands on when it is a single lane.
