I searched the forum and sorry if I missed it but I couldn't find anyone who'd successfully done this.
I took delivery of an R1S about two months ago and just received the $7500 check from the Mass EV More program. For trucks, the MSRP has to be under the $80k limit. Note that this includes...
Want to make sure I understand what you're saying. Was the recalibration fee of $1000 covered bc it's a required part of replacing the windshield, for which there's zero deductible?
Or are you saying that the glass/install was covered, but you were still $1k out of pocket?
Wipers I guess? Maybe temp too? I guess trying to understand how bad it would be to live without this until I have to take the car is for any sort of larger issue.
Another commenter said Safelite now has it FWIW. I'll look into ExoShield thanks!
Oh that's great! Thanks for confirming!
BTW what is this calibration everyone is referencing? I don't think I've ever had that done in any prior vehicle.
Yup definitely thinking about this especially if the glass can't be swapped at home as it could with all my other prior vehicles. I suppose sooner or later it will be but don't want to deal with stays at the SC.
Yeah we're Boston-area, so not the greatest roads in the world, but not dirt and gravel either. I get that random stuff happens but 2 chips in 2 weeks is nuts!
Thanks for the info but yikes. Is there something just plain bad about the angle of the windshield or something? Or the glass itself? Like I've gotten chips in the past on other cars, but more like, 1 in 5 years. Not 2 in 2 weeks.
@Robin thanks. To clarify, are you saying that you had to first bring the R1S to the SC to have them look at it, and only then did they order the glass? And, that once the glass comes in they're saying it will take a few days to a week to install? That's crazy cakes compared to what I've...
I see a bunch of somewhat older threads about this. Am wondering what it's like now? I took delivery of my R1S, which I otherwise love, but I *already* have two chips (!) in the windshield after only two weeks (!!)
I have $0 deductible glass coverage FWIW.
Anyway I appreciate knowing what it's...
In case anyone is interested, I'm now leaning toward giving up my early pricing (too lazy and risk averse to buy and resell) and leasing a Dual/Standard+. With $0 down I can get a configuration with a $77k MSRP and $895/mo price for 3 years. And, it qualifies for a $7500 rebate in my state (MA)...
You cannot. This was confirmed to me twice, by my guide, and by someone called a "Lead Field Specialist, Delivery and Mobile Operations."
And when I expressed frustration about this here on the site, and rightly pointed out that a sale at price $X was the exact same thing for Rivian as a lease...
