  3. EAC's RIVIAN Raffle

Wow you’ve only sold like 12 tickets. 60 days to go. What will you do if you don’t sell 5000?
  4. Ride comfort 20 vs 21

The fun thing about life is you get to be as skeptical as you want. It has been reported often and consistently that people with 20" wheels who buy slightly larger street tires get the same efficiency as the 21" stock wheels and tires. Smaller metal wheel = less energy to turn it.
  5. Ride comfort 20 vs 21

Whoa, my man, what HAVE you done to those wheels?

“And for us, we've really emphasized building a timeless design that's not something that's of the moment or something that feels old, six months after it's released. And we think that timeless element of the design actually provides us the opportunity to make less significant exterior design...
  8. R1 Refresh announcement soon?

Color me confused. I’m reading your quotes above where you attack me for suggesting there will be physical changes, asking what would make me think that given that nothing has been announced. I reply. Then you reply that yes you’re aware of multiple physical changes in the offing and include...

A visual refresh is anticipated because Rivian’s goals are to simplify production, save money, and sell more Rivian’s. Lower cost would sell more, but so would new features that are not too expensive to install and generate profit from customer delight. i think they’re holding the best software...
  12. Entire Tesla Supercharger team fired (Update: Elon Musk says supercharger network growth will continue). ** ⚠️ ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS **

I imagine there will be hubs in major metropolitan areas; essentially warehouses with several hundred charging stations. For example, Amazon doesn't use retail chargers they have hubs. People can install inductive chargers in their homes on their own. In the wild there will be few inductive...
  13. Entire Tesla Supercharger team fired (Update: Elon Musk says supercharger network growth will continue). ** ⚠️ ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS **

True FSD will require inductive charging so automated vehicles can automatically charge. Tesla may be backing out of the Supercharger business to introduce the InCharge inductive charging system. Retrofit your Tesla for $5000. Leave everyone else in the dust fighting over "superchargers" and...
  14. Entire Tesla Supercharger team fired (Update: Elon Musk says supercharger network growth will continue). ** ⚠️ ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS **

Precisely my thought too. If everyone uses it, a company separate from Tesla should administer it. Would Tesla have income if they spun-off the SC network? I'm not sure how that typically works.
  15. Tesla FSD Full Self Driving & Rivian ?

The new sensor suite is exactly why it makes sense. Made to order. Recall that RJ said Rivian’s R2 and R3 sensors would allow its drivers to take their hands off the wheeland concentrate on things that really matter to them. Either they’ve cracked it or they’re buying it.
  16. Tesla FSD Full Self Driving & Rivian ?

This is the real reason Tesla gave up on LIDAR: so they could license FSD to more car makers who use cameras and cheaper sensors.
  17. Rivian continues to miss out on revenue

I’d like to see the data and a graph. They say they looked at EV’s and ICE from 2000 onward. My guess is that a 2024 EV will have fewer repairs than one circa 2002.
