  1. Work In Progress: Charging and Cooling Pad Replacement for Gen 1 Rivians

We will not be adapting this, or doing any additional development of this idea, unfortunately. If we would have continued, we would have formalized the cabling for this to support our USB kit that requires zero soldering, shrink-wrapping, etc...
  2. Center Caps by OpenSource EV

I have a policy against editing reviews, but I can say that my testing has shown this to be inaccurate. It's likely close to 5-10 miles difference over an entire max pack 100-0% drive which is about half that.
  3. Center Caps by OpenSource EV

Me too, man. It's really silly that something like this are required to make that happen. They have very little difference. I done testing aero covers installed / removed at one point (there might be a post from me about it) and identical trips on the same day had near-as-enough identical...
  4. D.C. R1T DOT Fleet

My understanding is that they have quite a few of them, or will shortly have quite a few.
  5. How big of a deal is “clunking” as R1S dual motors engage/disengage?

100% a thing. As soon as you notice it, you won't be able to stop noticing it clunking. For me, it was exceptionally noticeable when coming to a bottom of a hill and starting to accelerate up the other side. 100% clunk, 100% of the time, and it seemed to get worse the longer I owned the truck...
  6. Hot take: Google Maps is not really much of an upgrade

This is a really good point, especially considering how they have a competing product already. I've used it in my Silverado and it's pretty good. Here is an overly long, rambly video about it:
  7. 2025.22 Update - Official Release Notes (Now With Google Maps Navigation)

I've felt since the beginning the the nav portion of the system was always a bit of a weak point. Directions weren't quite right. Traffic data was unreliable at times. The inability to click on POIs was a letdown. We'll know for sure when the rubber hits the road, but this move to Google Maps...
  8. Pennsylvania Rob's Garage Sale - Prototypes, One Offs, and Long-Term Testers (Exterior)

Updated with tweaked pricing and availability.
  9. 2026 Quad-Motor R1S / R1T Officially Revealed (Specs & Price)

I'll give on that - it's perhaps a bit harsh. I feel like I need to note that it was marketed, until just recently, solely on performance characteristics. Witnessing it outperformed over quarter mile by the Dream Edition Gravity, and knowing the Plaid would outperform it by well over a second...
  10. 2026 Quad-Motor R1S / R1T Officially Revealed (Specs & Price)

That's my big take away as well. I understand halo products struggle to present value - they are more visceral in nature. This has the price tag to qualify it as a halo car, but it's missing the thing that causes the emotional 'I need it' response. I think that's because I expected more. Much...
  11. (Ended) Comma 3x Sale for $899

FWIW - it was really game changing going to a more competent ADAS system for me. I predominately drive my Silverado around now, and it really points out just how middling the Rivian Driver+ system is. From everything I've seen, this is way better too. Way more miles with way less babysitting...
  12. New RAN location in Nags Head, NC

I'm curious if these are limited to 300kw (due to the cable or something) or will really flex for high voltage cars. Will the Gravity be able to hit ~400kw and will the Silverado EV Max be able to hit over 360kw? I'll find out on the latter in August...
  13. New at OpenSource EV Parts: NextGen Seat Back Tablet Mount

We don't - just to smaller iPads. That said, we use a standardized 17MM ball, so there are tons of options on Amazon that would work.
  14. RJ: Rivian ADAS will expand to Tesla style FSD - full self driving on highway and roads (from driveway to destination)

I have it enabled in my Silverado EV, but I'm kind of in the same boat. I also wish that it was more navigation aware too -- it frequently tries to pass when the exit is 1/2 mile a way or whatever. That said, I think that SuperCruise is excellent overall. I recently drove for about an hour to a...
  15. My 2025 R1T Was Bought Back — Sharing My Experience with Rivian Service, Quality Issues, and Lack of Goodwill

That sound from the video, even playing from my PC, just freaked my Great Dane out. I'd hate to put up with it. Yikes.
  16. Farewell - sold my R1T QM and moved to Tesla MY26 - some thoughts and comparison

Having owned a R1T with both the Meridian and Elevation audio, the Meridian was clearly better.
  17. 3D Printed Hitch Receiver Box for tools / storage [STL files] + larger version update!

I'm good on testers now. Thanks to everyone who responded. If all looks good, I'll post the STL shortly.
