20" AT wheel with range-efficient road tires?

I like the look of the 20" AT's wheels but would prefer more efficiency. I do off-road on occasion, but not enough to warrant a full set of AT tires.

Would this make sense at all to do? It it possible to get more efficiency from the tire spec, or is it mostly in the wheel size/weight?

It’s all about rolling resistance. If you choose to run an all-season on the 20s, you’ll get 21-like efficiency. There have been a few members here who have done this with positive (from the perspective of efficiency) results.

Get a more road biased tire in the same size with the same load and speed indexes…once the ATs wear out. If you drive the right way they shouldn’t last long.

Tricky bit is pretty much all the tires in the OEM size are E load rating, so they weigh substantially more.

Yup, if I had to do it again I would just stick with the 21s as finding good AS tires on the 20s is problematic due to that load rating.

Yup, if I had to do it again I would just stick with the 21s as finding good AS tires on the 20s is problematic due to that load rating.

Had some fun off road trying drift mode in Moab and did maybe 50 miles on a few trails here and there but that is about it. I’m at 12K miles. Hoping to get to 20k before swapping.

This is the first promising thing I’ve seen in regards to better range with an all-season in 20s instead of the 21s. $450/tire for only 7-15K miles on the 21s is absolutely freaking ridiculous to me. If I could find an efficient all season 20 that lasted 30K and was only 250/tire? Take my dang money.

What criteria did you use to evaluate that this was a good option? Genuinely curious so I can look for my own.
