I am not using them for snow conditions. I will switch back to my Pirelli ATs for winter since they are 3peak rated and I only have 7k on them. That was the point in why I switch out. I have always. Been a religious winter/AS seasonal tire changer since living in Europe. And even though the Pirelli are AT and not winter, they are still 3peak rated. And the Michelin tires are 100% better in all other seasons.

I’m a European living in the states too and I swear by winter tires - but in testing the Defender M/S2’s absolutely trash the 3PMSF Pirelli ATR tires.

Personally I’d be running dedicated winter tires.

How does on road traction compare to the scorpions?

I’d put money on the Defenders easily out performing the Scorpions in all on-road conditions.

The only area the Scorpions may have an advantage is in off roading. The Defenders even out perform the Scorpions in winter.

I usually start with him for tire reviews and was disappointed to see he’d only done snow and off road tests…maybe this summer!

Yea, I'm curious if the defenders would outperform the platinum though. I'm locked in on the defenders though unless something convinces me the platinum are as good because they look cooler

I think he said he was planning more testing of them. It was more to show that in snow the Defenders are superior and it’s basically guaranteed they will out perform the Pirellis on road so it’s really just a question of how they perform off road.

I’m going to sell the Pirellis as soon as I get my Rivian.

I just put the 22” Defender LTX’s on my wife’s Yukon. Fantastic tire. Really a compelling option for the Rivian. I see no reason why they wouldn’t be quieter and perhaps slightly more efficient.

My guess given the siping the M/S2’s will perform better in snow and given their lighter weight and tread they will do better on road. So really the question is how each performs off road.

Personally I don’t care how a tire looks, it’s purely down to how it performs and the Defender LTX M/S2 is one of the best all round SUV/Pickup tires.

My off roading use is dirt and gravel paths that a Honda civic could go down so sacrificing on road comfort and performance for off road capability makes no sense. I think a lot of people underestimate how off road capable a good four wheel drive system and M/S2 can be.

They’ll be far more efficient than the Pirelli ATR, that’s for sure. I’m expecting efficiency close to the stock 22’s. Better in rain, dry, noise, comfort, longevity, and snow.

What sort of efficiency numbers are you getting with these in the 275/60/R20 size?

May I ask what PSI people are running these tires at? I'll be installing these today with the MSW rims from Tire Rack. I'll report back with efficiency numbers once I get 1000 miles or so on them.

Nothing special except what appears to be confirmation of the manufacturers part number, load/speed rating and price. Hopefully they will be available to order in the beginning of August!
