Some new info, but only covers charging sessions. So is this new Energy app just a re-organizing, and nothing new?? Thought that would be the star of the show, even above Pet Comfort.
I'm dealing with this now, sort of. I received the notice and initiated the install about 2 hours ago (2022.23.5). I'm on home wifi. I forgot about it, but then checked about 15 minutes ago (2:00PM eastern) and the app showed 6% complete and it hasn't moved since then. Hmmmm...Update has been installing for over an hour now. More concerning is the app has been reporting 66% for a while. It was climbing pretty steadily at first. Truck still responds to lock/unlock requests, but the screens and interior lights don't come on at all.
EDIT: Just jumped from 66 to 69 (nice)
I was planning on rigging up the door sensor to just always think it was closed, but I'm glad they made this change.Thank God the Offroad mode remains intact whenever the driver exits the vehicle. I just did a run on Big Bear mountain road and it was driving me INSANE that it always wanted to default out of Offroad mode, and lower the suspension. You often have to step out to confirm clearances or whatever reasons and having to "fight" the drive mode menu was actually pissing me off!
Interesting...Installed the update, this afternoon. I notice Rivian has softened the verbiage on charge limits.
They used to say:
Daily / 70% - Best for battery health
Extended / 85% - Moderate battery wear
Trip /100% - Frequent use ages battery
Now they say:
Daily / 70% - Least battery wear
Extended / 85% - Reduced battery wear
Max / 100%.- Normal battery wear
I'm not sure we can really know other than waiting and seeing real-world reports over the years. We can guesstimate, based on other EV brands/models, but the R1T/S may be different since the pack size is larger than EVs that came before it, the consumption-per-mile is higher, and Rivian rolled their own BMS, too.Interesting...
Do we have any sense how much 'wear' (or lack of wear) 85% and 100% charges really cause on the R1T?
