How many vehicles with built in SSDs for music/nav/etc available now have an SSD that is owner serviceable?Another way R1 will be the gift that keeps on giving (to Rivian).
That's exactly why I mentioned it. I'm can't imagine they'd make us remember the CD Walkman experience. ?There is no way it would be an HDD. The bumps and g forces would destroy it in short order.
Plenty of other vehicles have traditional platter based HDDs. I know Dodge had some for local mp3 playback. There is no way it would be an HDD. The bumps and g forces would destroy it in short order.
I have no idea. Have never owned one and never tried to service one. You tell me. None of the applications you mentioned writes to disk as much and as often as Sentry mode in Tesla does for Video and Tesla uses an external drive. I wonder why?How many vehicles with built in SSDs for music/nav/etc available now have an SSD that is owner serviceable?
They’re generally built into the infotainment unit. So not something the average owner is going to removeI have no idea. Have never owned one and never tried to service one. You tell me. You are asking the wrong question. The idea is not making a part that is unlikely to fail easy to replace and accessible but the ones that will. All SSD applications are not created equal.
Great to see this see this. When you have a moment, could you post a couple shots of the new trip computer. Would love to see what it shows wrt consumption / efficiency. Thanks!Video soon

Oh damn, I would have thought they would have had this basic functionality working since day one.It had been non functional for some time, apparently.
I think Rivian disabled it for a period of time because of software issues.Oh damn, I would have thought they would have had this basic functionality working since day one.
I looked up the traditional gifts for each anniversary...@godfodder0901 you’re coming up on your one year anniversary with your guide. Whatcha it’s awfully nice of them to get you a truck. Have anything planned for them? ?

Yeah - but that is from quite some time ago. My circa 2012 Wrangler had the Uconnect 730 that had effectively the spinning 40GB drive from the original iPod in it.Plenty of other vehicles have traditional platter based HDDs. I know Dodge had some for local mp3 playback.
I agree that they sucked, and I have no doubt that they failed at an incredible rate.Yeah - but that is from quite some time ago. My circa 2012 Wrangler had the Uconnect 730 that had effectively the spinning 40GB drive from the original iPod in it.
The failure rate was higher than what you would expect - there was a cottage industry for replacements. (here is a site, for instance)
Also, no one is making them anymore.
