Debating on what to get here. This will be my 1st Rivian, and just looking for opinions on my purchase. This R1T will be our fun vehicle, for the beach, for the dump, dog park, football kids traveler, etc. type of stuff. We have two other EVs for our dailies. So Im debating on:

1. 2022 R1T Quad, Large Pack, 20" All Terrain Dark, Meridian Sound, and Reinforced Underbody Shield w/ 9k on it for 67k ready to pick up next Saturday.

2. 2025 2nd Gen R1T Dual Standard, 20" All Seasons, Premium Audio for around 72k ready in August or September.

5K isnt a huge difference, and I guess it really comes down to what specs, utilities, etc. are most important to us, as a non-daily driver. We wouldn't be reaping the benefits of the summer with it if we wait as well, but I guess that's being petty. HA!

What would you all go for? Opinions are always welcome!

$67k seems high for a 2022 with 9k miles.

Personally I would choose the refreshed 2025 DM standard pack. Over 600 improvements over the 1st generation model.

New in house Rivian motors, totally revamped electrical architecture, brand new LFP battery pack, revised suspension, etc.

If you want a quad, get a used one. Demo vehicles are thrashed and will have the equivalent wear of 2-3x the mileage easily

Marketing does wonders - R1T ride is excellent for gen 1.

Unless fun vehicle for you does not equate to speed, get quad. Half-second difference to 60 is highly significant despite this forum's marketing justification of "only half a second".

My daily is a 24 Model Y Performance so, yes, speed and performance is of course a good thing for me. Good point.

Hard decision to make!

I would pick quad: mostly for cool factor reasons (each motor / wheel) ;) (+ drift & other modes) and longer warranty.

(but also cabin noise reduction & camera resolution improvements are tempting too!)

The vehicle has manufacture plates on it (not sure if that means anything, and not local dealer plates) and looks in decent shape. All wheels look to have the lineup dots as well.

Added a few pics for the hell of it. The site shows a few more.

QM for me. I absolutely love mine and as far as all the improvements you would miss out on....I personally value the power of the QM over all of them. And regarding who made the motors....Bosch is a proven company of EV motors and I don't think I have seen a single post regarding a Bosch motor failure.

I am bougie and love the each motor each wheel aspect, and yellow calipers. HA!

A long test drive make all the difference. 70 mph highway test for wind noise around the windows. 20 mph test over speed bumps for suspension noise. If it passes both, I'd go for the Quad, at $60K.

I picked up a demo r1t (CY with ocean coast) with 10k miles on it a few months ago and it's been fantastic. You still get the full length of the warranty (minus existing miles), the tax credit, and those baller wheels! ;)
