I purchased my new to me 2023 R1T in August '24 and very quickly realized there were alot of odd noises coming from the front end, dashboard, and center console.

I managed to solved the dashboard noise issues with help from these forums (thank you all!) this was due to the speakers and clips not being attached well, solved with some adhesive weather stripping.

I sent her off to the service center after a 3 month wait. She wound up being there for 2 months while they troubleshot the dash rattling issue, which as it turns out was not my imagination, and they did everything including dropping the battery to refasten brake and A/C lines in the channel in the center of the vehicle. (I could not have done this for sure).

The other 2 issues were beyond me.

1. Rattling from the front end - I thought this was the suspension of half shafts. Here's the info from the work order, not entirely sure what this means, but they tightened something:

Concern:
- Perform FSAM-1507
Cause:
- Perform FSAM-1507
Correction/Remedy:
- Tighten hub to knuckle fasteners in 4 locations

2. Rattling sound emerging from dashboard ONLY when going up-hill. This was an odd one. It sounded like a loose sheet metal bracket was not fastened or welded correctly and would shake around ONLY when going up hill. It was the most annoying thing and was going to be a deal breaker for sure. A 90k vehicle should not be making noises like this. You could hear through music too so that wasn't a "fix".

This had the service center stumped. They disassembed the dash (did some additional tune up on the speaker grille). That wasn't it. Then they sent to the body shop to completely disassemble the dash and floor. Seats out, carpet out, dash out. Nada. Everything was solid. Back to the body shop where they dropped the battery and found that a brake line had fallen out of one of the fasteners in the channel in the center of the vehicle. Re-assembled, tested, and the noise was still there.

They then went back under the vehicle, dropped the battery and found that an A/C line was also loose. They re-attached and THIS turned out to be the culprit.

2 months later my truck is back and it is heavenly how quiet is is now.

Another + was that I got to test out a 2022 R1S Quad Motor Launch Edition as a loaner for those 2 months and put about 2000 miles on it with several trips from the bay area to Tahoe and all around town. With free charging, which worked at both RAN and Tesla stations. Nice bonus.

Overall, I much prefer my R1T and am glad to have it back sans noisy rattles.

thanks for documenting your experience!

i currently have a rattly tinny noise that is getting worse and worse and if i used my imagination i could see it being loose metal high pressure lines. nothing mechanically feels loose or sloppy.

interesting you say both that they fixed it but also the infamous half shaft bearing noise is still there. can you distinguish between these noises?

i’m amazed you got the service center to do all that work. they told me there was a loose plastic shield under my car and tightened it for free but it didn’t do a thing for the noise.

In case it helps anyone, I recently tracked down an odd noise when I drove over a rough spot. The guide wheels on the plastic piece that spans the crack when the tailgate is open were not making contact with the tailgate when it is closed. I glued on a small piece of black rubber where the two center wheels land and all us quiet.
