I am so excited about this! The 3rd zone of climate control, that is. I mean, loving nerds is cool, too. But we are finally getting a 3rd zone of climate control!!!

We‘ve only had our Rivian for 15 months and I’ve lost count of the improvements added to it. So cool!

Gear Guard Live (requires Driver+ subscription)... well, that will make all you folks who say "I'd pay for that" any time a new feature is considered, very happy.. you got it... a new feature, and you get to pay (every month) for it!

I see it as an additional free feature for the service I am already going to pay for. Since I am already paying for it, bring on the Driver+ exclusive features - doesn’t cost me a dime more.

Actually, it requires a Connect+ subscription not a Driver+ subscription, which makes sense to me. We aren’t getting the features of Gear Guard Live without transmitting data via a cellular connection. So people who are willing to pay for the Connect+ data plan will get a bundle of features which rely on the data. Every feature they add which requires Connect+ potentially enhances the value of Connect+ and makes it more likely that customers will find Connect+ worth the cost.

Given that mobile data plans are a monthly expense, it seems reasonable to me that Rivian will charge a monthly fee for a better plan. If they were charging monthly to add a static feature which requires no further development (massaging seats as an example) then I’d expect a one-time upgrade fee and not a monthly fee.

I don’t see the problem here and I’m fine paying for larger volumes of data I’ll be using to enable the bundle of new features.

I agree with you 100%. Gear Gaurd live is the use case that I have been talking about on other threads that will have me purchase Connect+. I want to be able to monitor my truck when I am traveling and staying at hotels. I traveled this week for an overnight stay and wanted gear gaurd live as my truck was parked in a location where I couldn't see it.

I have to agree with the post you are replying to.....It is near unusable.

I have a Gen 1 Meridian system if that makes a difference. Tried both types of restart multiple times. My expectation is that i am able to browse, choose and play music immediately after entering the vehicle. Instead, the previously playing playlist/station wont play, content browsing windows have no content for a while, then you select something to play and it spins. Then I have to choose a few different things before it actually starts playing. 10 minutes later it plays. Doesnt matter if I am on Wifi or using the built in LTE. This has never been a problem with the other music apps in my 2.5 years of ownership. Once it is playing it works fairly well, but getting it playing is really frustrating.

I never had the speaker volume issues that some have reported so I guess it was my turn to have some bugs. Hope they get it sorted this release.

You can check on the vehicle spontaneously, or in response to a notification from the Gear Guard alarm system.
Does this mean we are going to start getting notifications when Gear Gaurd is triggered or when the alarms go off?
