Harvester looks to be an integrated compact genset. Good idea and really if it can output 6-11kW that should be sufficient. It's not like you'd drain the HV pack and then kick on the "Harvester" to continue, it would likely need to be enabled prior to a certain battery level, say 20%, or not driving.

Sorry but this is nonsensical. In this business there are two phases of production. Preproduction produces release candidates, to validate assembly process and compatibility of parts. Once that is done, series production begins. Production leads to delivery. Production start dates can postpone if preproduction milestones are not met. Rivian delayed production. But once production began, cars were delivered.
As I was trying to tell you - they aren't going in to production in 2026. Anyone with any sense could see that and even Scout is saying "production starts in 2027."

So I guess I wasn't so "nonsensical" after all?

I don’t think they compete as strongly. Trucks generic and not innovative and Rivian will have three years to continue to innovate and add new features.
Wouldn’t Scout have access to tech through their sharing agreement?

Take away: Rivian has nothing to worry about. And, with EVs, the more the merrier. We're not even 10% of the entire car market. There is room for everyone and more. The chicken littles need to chill.

Targeting 2027 means, sometime in 2028 or beyond. Rivian still has some more headway to get R2, R3X out. What was shown was pretty much what I saw at a focus group.

I was hoping the truck would be more like the Alpha Wolf EV (if that ever ends up existing), something that really was a bit more retro.

As is both models look more like bad AI renders of the R1T and R1S

1. You can tell that whole Range Extender thing was shoehorned in at the last minute by oil lobby politicians at the reveal directly interfering in the business decisions. Expect more of this oil lobby demands in a certain possible upcoming administration.

2. I thought their “one last thing” would be to roll out a Rally car to go up against the R3X. Instead they went the opposite way to a Range Extender. lol. I bet that version is well above $100k.

3. No timetable release that I saw? Does this mean around 2028?

Nope. Only the 'zonal architecture' they pointed out in the reveal.

I have a feeling this may have actually been how the Scout designers created these after all :p

(a rivian r1t truck and a rivian r1s SUV, parked on a circular platform with two big screens behind them and a sunset in the middle with the word SCOUT on top)

I think the range extender is powered by spare inventory VW bug motors lol. Anyway looks super cool. I'd buy one especially with the offroad chops that it has. Loss of the third row is a bummer but my kids have their own cars now too. Software definitely echoes Rivian.

very much reminds me of a Bronco, which I don't know if it makes them any special at this point of time.

if the price isn't accessible, then they'll likely become another Fisker.
